Nokia Transport 3.0 For WP8 Released Posted: 06 Nov 2012 09:32 AM PST WP central are reporting that Nokia Transport has been officially released for WP8 as Version 3.0; bringing with it a slew of new updates and performance enhancements. The most notable of which is the smooth transitions between map applications thanks to the fact that Nokia maps now power all apps in WP8.
What I’m interested in seeing regarding maps on WP is something similar to Nokia Car mode which is available for both Symbian & Meego, which basically blows u the size of your most common used buttons while driving (music, phone, maps) making everything easier to navigate. At first I thought the image above was a new car mode for WP but it appears to be just a set of very large tiles. |
First Ever Instagram Client for N9 “Instago” Posted: 06 Nov 2012 09:19 AM PST It would seem the Meego community doesn’t like being left out of anything; either that or when they hear an app developer say “No, we don’t have any plans at the moment” that translates into “I dare you to do it yourself”. Either way we should all be thankful for the skilled guys out the who are clever and savvy enough to do what most of us normal old folks can’t. Instago is a Reader ONLY Instagram client for the N9, that allows the user to access their Instagram profile, view their feed and pretty much do everything you can do on Andorid or iOS as long as it doesn’t require publishing to the site (you can’t post photos or comments, and as of now notifications are yet to be implemented).
The app runs surprisingly well seeing as it’s still in early beta form; and perfectly mimics the Instagram ui; loading times of images doesn’t take any longer than on any other official instagram client, and in my opinion it at least looks better than the iPad version. All in all Instago is a pretty nifty client and for anyone who uses instagram but has chosen the Meego way it’s a definite must have.
*note: Alot of people here mock instagram, which is slightly justified, but as a social network (forget the ugly filters) it’s not too shabby; and even if it were a horrible invention a lot of people use it, which means it SHOULD be available (WP I’m looking at you). |
Official: Lumia 920 on At&t only $99.99 820 $49.99 (w/ 2yr contract) Posted: 06 Nov 2012 07:09 AM PST Just now At&t have FINALLY released the official pricings of the two long awaited Lumias, the 920 will clock in at an amazingly low $99.99; which buys you about as much innovation that you can get on the market; while the 820 will sell for an even lower $49.99. The big question is will anyone either buying the 810 from T-Mobile at $150? (also worth noting is that the HTC 8X is also selling for $99, but that’s only for the 8GB version, the 16GB will cost you an extra $100- which means another 1-up for the Lumia). Edit (Michael): These prices are available when you sign on to a 2 year contract. The outright prices are, to my knowledge, yet to be confirmed. Thanks for the tip everyone who sent this in |
