Up until now the trial involving Apple and Samsung didn’t bring out any earth shattering proof, in spite of the prototypes we’ve seen so far. Now, today we may have just seen that bomb we were waiting for, the definitive proof from Apple. They pulled out from the hat a Samsung internal document that proves Sammy was copying Apple.
As you can see, there are recommendations for engineers who take care of the UI, saying that the interface needs effects of light for a more luxurious icon system. Also, it’s written that they should erase any feeling that the iPhone icons have been copied. This is just a mere portion of the entire incriminating document, that’s 132 page large and it’s written in 2010 by Samsung engineers. It also compares the Galaxy S and iPhone several times and gives recommendations on how to get rid of differences. The idea is to copy Apple without anyone figuring that out. Samsung could obviously say that the document is doctored or that it’s logical to compare its products to its rival’s. Anyway, this feels like a bomb unveiling, that might just bring an Apple win. A recent look into the Indonesian Communication Agency filing of new products reveals an interesting Nikon camera running Android. The filing was done on July 31st 2012 and the product is Nikon Coolpix S800 or S800c. We’re dealing with an Android-based compact camera, a premiere in the world of devices.
The gadget uses a 25-250 mm lens, a 3.5 inch OLED screen and I doubt it will be able to make calls, so it’s probably just a camera, not a cameraphone. It’s also able to run all Google Play apps, it’s based on Android 2.3 according to inside info and has GPS and WiFi. The possible announcement date is August 22, 2012. There will be a potential announcement during the upcoming Photokina event, that should take place around the rumored time frame. Since this is a compact camera, one can only hope that in the future Nikon will also release DSLRs with Android and maybe even cameraphones or tablets for advanced photo/taking and editing, but that’s just a wet dream now…

We’re supposedly a month away from the iPhone 5 unveiling and each day there’s a new information about the device or a new component that’s been leaked. This time we learn that the handset might support a 640 x 1136 pixel resolution, something that we’ve heard before, but this time with proof.
One of the rumors most often to appear about the new iPhone is the presence of a 4 inch display and its longer case, compared to the iPhone 4S. Back in May there was a rumor about a next gen iPhone with a taller display and a 3.999 inch diagonal, with a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. At this resolution Apple is able to keep the horizontal length of the iPhone and only increase the height. The form factor was confirmed by the recent leaks and now it appears that the taller display and bigger resolution will also mean that you get an extra row of icons. The current iPhone display feature 4 rows of icons, while the new one will offer 5. The proof was found in the tweaks of the iOS Simulator application, that was included in the iOS development tools. The simulator ran at the resolution mentioned above, 640 x 1136 pixel and it displayed 5 complete rows. Below you can see a comparison of iOS 6.0 and iOS 5.1 running at the big resolution. It’s interesting to note that the simulator won’t be able to display 5 rows of apps correctly at any other resolution than this one, so there you have: solid proof.
