BlackBerry London/ L Series Leaks Again, Fresh BB 10 OS Handset Pictured

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 12:56 PM PDT

We have been hearing about the BlackBerry London/ BB L Series even before the iPad 3 was launched and now we get a fresh batch of pictures leaked, showing the device. It’s hard to figure out anything about the device, aside from its beautiful allure. The device seems to be pretty wide and has a clearly separated upper and lower side from the screen area.

One of the pictures shows the battery door and something that looks like NFC contacts. The camera will be placed at the upper corner of the rear of the device, like on the iPhone, if you must have a comparison. The serial number tagging shows that we’re dealing with test units, so the final hardware design may not be ready. Next week we’ll see the BlackBerry Jam Americas developer’s conference in San Jose, California, that may bring another leak or two.

It would have been nice to see some BlackBerry 10 OS handsets surfacing this holiday season, but it appears RIM needs more time to finalize the OS and we’re expecting a debut in early 2013. Maybe CES 2013 will finally bring us a decent version of the rumored BlackBerry London.

LG Optimus G Hands On Experience Reveals Glossy, Elegant, Slim and Powerful Device (Video)

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 12:22 PM PDT

The LG Optimus G was once again announced officially today and soon after we came across a hands on experience with the device on the web. There’s also an unboxing below, showing the device in all its splendor, straight from its homeland of South Korea. We’re dealing here with the most powerful smartphone of the moment, packing a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU and 2 GB of RAM.

Optimus G comes with a dotted texture case (at the back at least) and a general look that reminds me of the LG Optimus 4X HD. It has a very discrete integration of the 13 megapixel camera at the back and the case is glossy. The hadnset has a 4.7 inch True HD IPS display and below it there are capacitive keys. At the side we have the SIM card slot and the handset also comes with 32GB of storage, LTE and sadly only Android Ice Cream Sandwich for now. Jelly Bean was promised for the future and I hope it will come fast, to really pull out the best performance on the Snapdragon S4 Pro.

Folks who touched the phone are saying that it feels very compact given the size of the screen. It measures 8.45 mm in thickness and it’s narrower and shorter, contributing to the compact feeling. It’s also easier to hold and easier to fit in a pocket. Plus, in spite of all that slimness it’s still a resilient and solid device. The handset also impresses in benchmarks, where it scores 5000 points in Quadrant, for example, but you’ll learn more about it by watching the videos integrated into the article.

iPhone 5 Huge Demand Increases Apple Stock Worth to $700, Record Breaking Value

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 10:53 AM PDT

Apple shares have climbed to a crazy $700 and even more as the official news about the iPhone 5 demand have reached the web. The stock value increase happened just after the close of Monday’s trading session. The stock opened up over $8 above Friday’s close, after the new regarding the sellout of the iPhone 5.

The new handset, that for the first time adopts a bigger display sold over 2 million units in just 24 hours after being made available via presales. Apple sold 1 million iPhone 4S smartphones during the first 24 hours last year, so this is another recording breaking affair. Preorders for the new iPhone went live at around 3.01 AM EDT on Friday and the launch day inventory was sold out in a mere hour. Also, people are already queuing up at the Apple Stores that will start selling the goods on September 21st.

Starting on that date Apple is expected to reach between 5 and 6 million units in the launch weekend alone, for yet another stock value boost. If Apple does launch an iPad Mini as well next month, I wouldn’t be surprised if their stock value even reached $800 or even $900. Who can stop Apple?!

LG Optimus G Is Now Official, Coming to South Korea Next Week, Internationally in October

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 03:45 AM PDT

Although the LG Optimus G was pretty much official after being confirmed by LG and detailed days ago, now the South Koreans gave the model an official unveiling, with extra details. Turns out that the handset will come to South Korea next week and the rest of the world in October. LG is saying that this is the first quad core phone of its kind to launch with full LTE compatibility.

For some reason, the Optimus G will launch with Android 4.0 ICS and not Jelly Bean, as we’d like it to. It also comes with a 4.7 inch 1280 x 768 pixel display, a True HD IPS screen with Zerogap touch, meaning it has in cell touch technology. Other features include a 1.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, with Adreno 320 GPU, as well as 32 GB of internal storage, 2 GB of RAM and a 13 megapixel camera at the back. In some areas of the world, the camera will be an 8 megapixel one.

LG Optimus G uses a 2100 mAh battery, that provides 15 hours of talk time and its specs list ends with Bluetooth 4.0, DNA, NFC, WiFi and AGPS. It measures 8.45 mm in thickness and weighs 145 grams. The handset also has some interesting software features, like QSlide, that allows you to use two different screens at the same time on the LG Optimus G display. This seems to resemble the multiscreen function on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, which is great for real multitasking. There’s also the ability to zoom in up to 5 times while a video is being streamed for a closeup.

Motorola RAZR i Officially Announced, Features Intel CPU, Edge to Edge Display (Video)

Posted: 18 Sep 2012 03:12 AM PDT

Last week after the Motorola Droid RAZR M was unveiled there were some rumors on the web concerning an Intel CPU version of the RAZR M and it seems they were true. Motorola and Intel unveiled today the RAZR i, an edge to edge screen smartphone with a 2 GHz Intel CPU. It became official during an event in London.

The device packs a Super AMOLED Advanced 4.3 inch screen that’s almost an edge to edge affair, having virtually no border. The handset has an Intel Atom processor capable of 2 GHz speeds, so this is the handset with the highest CPU frequency on the market. RAZR i also offers a 2000 mAh battery, that promises 40% more power than the competition. The device also incorporates an 8 megapixel camera, that can load in less than a second and also in less than a second it can snap 10 pictures via multishot mode.

The same camera offers a HDR feature and a back illuminated sensor. Motorola’s new RAZR runs Android 4.0 ICS and it will receive Jelly Bean as soon as possible. It also has NFC and a premium design, that involves diamond cut aircraft grade aluminum on the frame around the display. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass and the back is made of Kevlar, while the insides are protected against liquid spills by a proprietary technology. RAZR i also comes with the ability to set up SMARTACTIONS, that save battery and perform preset tasks at certain times or places.

The phone will come in black and white starting October in select European and Latin American markets. There’s also a very neat official UK site for the handset here.

The full story on the Apple iPad and iPhone Adobe decision

Posted: 17 Sep 2012 11:06 AM PDT

We were just as shocked as everyone in the tech industry when Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple announced in April 2010 that they would no longer be utilising Adobe Flash for their mobile products. This move came as a shock to gamers around the world as Apple had been producing some very impressive products that had been the talk of the town. By refusing to support Flash, Jobs was effectively pulling the plug on mobile gaming in its then-current form and literally banishing Flash from all mobile casino and other mobile gaming options.

iPad casino games had been in huge demand but there was no denying that Adobe had been struggling to provide Apple with a stable and secure platform for gamers. They knew that players would get frustrated and their grip on the mobile market would begin to slide if the gaming compatibility situation did not improve. Apple made the decision to drop Adobe and run with HTML 5, a platform on which they felt would ensure iPad casino and other games would be more compatible and stable on. Their decision resulted in being 100% correct and the new releases of iPad casino and other mobile casino games can be enjoyed at sites like http://www.iPadcasino.com.au/ where you can see for yourself just how impressively HTML 5 works with Apple products.

Part of the problem of Apple having dumped Adobe was the incredibly public slating they came in for from Steve Jobs. Jobs wrote an open letter to Adobe on the Apple website and detailed accurately just how outdated the technology and practices of Adobe had become, including trashing their lack of stability, lack of support and the fact that they were actually not, as they had previously said, "open" they are in fact 100% proprietary . Jobs slammed Adobes attempts at making a Flash player that was stable and it was clear he was correct, as none of the iPad casino games at the time had rendered correctly, and in many cases trying to play any mobile casino games on an Apple product using Flash had resulted in the device crashing.

In the end, Adobe had to admit defeat, a rather tough pill to swallow for a corporation that has millions of supporters around the globe and should have all the best resources at their disposal. Adobe decided to drop the flash player for mobile casino and other mobile games and videos and focus their attention on developing their web based products. This in itself was a victory for Apple, and developers around the world have embraced the features and open factor of HTML 5.
