HTC Droid DNA may be the manufacturer’s fastest smartphone to date. It features a quad-core hardware configuration, with the Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset in charge of delivering the ultimate performance, and that is not even the main highlight  The Adreno 320 GPU will have to push the 1080p resolution that the 5-inch Full HD S-LCD3 display offers. The 2GB of RAM will more then suffice for apps and on the back there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording.

On the front we find a 2 MP HD capable camera. Connectivity includes LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. There is the HTC trademark Beats Audio and 16GB non-expandable internal memory. The battery capacity is 2020 mAh with wireless charging also on board. The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean coupled with HTC Sense 4+ UI. It will be available starting November 21.

Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II Announced by Verizon, Priced at $129.99

Posted: 13 Nov 2012 04:22 AM PST

Verizon finally unveiled the Samsung Stratosphere II, a handset model that has been leaking on the web ever since August. The handset is the successor of the original Stratosphere, that debuted in October 2012. The handset also adopted the Galaxy branding, meaning it fits in a higher end area right now.

We’re dealing here with a sliding model available in Verizon, packing 4 capacitive buttons and a 4 row QWERTY keyboard, a full QWERTY one that is. This model also comes with a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, a 4 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with an unknown resolution (not mentioned by Samsung or Verizon). However, we can supposed that the resolution here is 800 x 480 pixels. We’ve also got 4G LTE support, NFC and Android 4.0 ICS as the OS of choice.

Previous leaks include an 8 megapixel camera, a 1.9 megapixel front shooter, but those have yet to be confirmed by Verizon itself. Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II goes for $129.99 after a $50 mail in rebate, with a 2 year contract, obviously. The launch will go down in the “coming weeks”, according to people close to the matter.

Android 4.2 for Galaxy Nexus Rolling Out Slowly; Manual Download Available Here!

Posted: 13 Nov 2012 01:38 AM PST

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Nexus and you envy the people who will buy a LG Nexus 4 today, don’t! At least when it comes to software choice… since now you can get Android 4.2 on your Galaxy Nexus. The software is rolling out slowly to these devices and if you’re impatient, you can manually download it from here.

There are new features here, ones that the media hasn’t covered like the magnification gestures. Other new features include the Quick Settings area, multi user accounts (only on tablets) and improved Google Now. The idea with the multiuser is that many people share devices with family members, but each one has a specific collection of apps or preferences. As far as Quick Settings go, this area allows users to instantly access the most frequently used settings, like brightness, WiFi, data usage, battery life, toggles for Bluetooth, Airplane mode and the likes.

Android 4.2 also introduces a new phone-style 10 inch tablet user interface, that was first seen on the Nexus 10. The “dock” is across the bottom of the display in landscape mode, for example. The notification area is also a bit different on the 10 inch tablet compared to a phone. The standard notification center is accessed via  swipe down from the top of the left half of the screen, as for the Quick settings menu, that’s accessible by swiping down from the right half.

Google Now’s improvements employs the Google Knowledge Graph, that brings up quick stats related to the search query, plus relevant links. Another improvement in Android 4.2 is the Photo Sphere, that allows you to stitch together a 360 degree panorama. So, did you get these on your Galaxy Nexus?
