Huawei Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 Handset Expected at CES 2013

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 12:01 PM PST

Huawei Ascend W1 already leaked in a bunch of pictures and specs, but now there’s a new twist to its story. The device is coming at CES 2013, where it will be showcased with Windows Phone 8 on board. The launch was initially supposed to go down this year, but new data claims it will debut next year at CES.

We’re dealing with a pretty cute looking smartphone, based on a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and packing a 4 inch touchscreen display with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel camera, front VGA camera and 512 MB of RAM. Also on bard there’s 4GB of flash memory and a microSD card slot. The handset is expected to cost $310, which is pretty affordable, even when compared to the more affordable Lumia units.

This model is also expected to use a 2000 mAh battery and right now it’s pictured in blue, but it may come in several other color versions as well. With the back looking pretty much like a combo between the HTC One X and the HTC 8X, while the front screams HTC, I can sense a lawsuit coming…

Sprint Introduces the ZTE Flash – 12.6 MP Camera Android Smartphone

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 05:05 AM PST

The ZTE Flash was rumored to hit Sprint this year with mid-range specs and a highly competitive price. The handset showed up in some leaked photos a while back, featuring design similarities with the Galaxy Nexus, including the on-screen software keys. The device was rumored to cost only rumored to cost only $130 on-contract and run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Today Sprint decided to quietly introduce the device. Due to recent rumors it comes as no surprise to most tech readers that the ZTE Flash should now be available for the carrier in the US. ZTE is known for delivering affordable devices in the US, mainly on contract. The ZTE Flash offers more then decent specs for its category. It packs a 1.5 Ghz dual core Snapdragon chipset with 1GB of RAM.

The main highlight of the Flash is its way above average 12.6 MP rear camera, capable of delivering very high resolution shots. As MP really don’t matter, we are curios as to the quality of the sensor that ZTE chose to implement, while keeping the price at a highly affordable level. Conectivity features include WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and LTE. A surprising addition is the NFC chip integrated into the smartphone’s battery. The screen is the IPS and it offers HD resolution for sharp-looking images. It also has a microSD card slot to go with the 8 GB of built-in storage. It will be offered (as rumored) for $130 on contact with a $50 price after a mail-in rebate.

Samsung Galaxy Axiom 4 Inch Phone Leaks, Coming to US Cellular

Posted: 14 Nov 2012 12:23 AM PST

Another day, another @evleaks leak, this time one related to a 4 inch Samsung handset, that’s supposedly coming to US Cellular. This model is the Samsung Galaxy Axiom, that gets pictured below and could be coming soon. Its design reminds me a bit of the recently leaked Samsung Ativ Odyssey.

@evleaks is a very good source of information, since they premiered leaked information about Nokia Lumia 920, pictures too and the ASUS PadFone 2. As far as the Axiom goes, this may be a localized version of the Samsung Galaxy Mini newcomer. This 4 inch handset is also dubbed SCH-R830 and could come with a WVGA display, a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, LTE and Ice Cream Sandwich.

The CPU is of the MSM8960 kind and all in all you should take this leak with a grain of salt, since there’s no telling what rumors are real and which aren’t, in spite of how solid the source is. I wonder how much this device will cost once it launches…
