Samsung to Release La Fleur Edition for the Galaxy S III

Posted: 19 Nov 2012 12:47 PM PST

Samsung hasn’t provided new additions to their La Fleur line-up but it is rumored that they will do so in the near future. According to some recent news, Samsung is going bring new La Fleur versions for some of their Android based mid-level devices, including the Galaxy Mini 2 or the Galaxy Ace 2.

The La Fleur editions for Samsung handsets feature fashion oriented designs in pink or white, with flower designs on the outer shell of the devices. Samsung has released La Fleur devices, targeting the female consumers, based mostly on feature phones. At the beginning of this year they announced variants for the Wave Y, Galaxy Ace, C3322 and C3520. Later info suggest they will also be basing their La Fleur devices on some newer models barely launched on the market, such as the Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Ace DUOS and Galaxy S DUOS and the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet.

Further down the line we take a look at the most recent rumors according to which Samsung will be releasing a La Fleur Edition Galaxy S III in the near future. Sammobile are claiming that the variant will be characterized by “a flower print on the back of the device and front of the device.” More to come soon as we hope to gather some new info.

The new Motorola RAZR lineup incldes three new smartphones, announced earlier this year. Amond them is a surprise adition, an Intel powered handset, the first to come from a very large device manufacturer. The RAZR i is powered by Intel’s Atop CPU that a few years back could only be implemented in laptops.

The ultra-low voltage CPU found in the Motorola RAZR i MT788 variant for China Mobile is clocked at 2 Ghz. It has most of the features the International version, the XT890 offers. There is the Intel Atom Z2460 CPU that will have to push the Gorilla Glass protected 4.3-inch 960 x 540 pixels resolution AMOLED display.

The device brings an 8 MP camera on the back, a microSD card slot for expansion, with capacities running up to 32GB and the usual connectivity features, including WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. It looks identical to the MSM8625-powered dual-SIM XT788 on China Telecom and offers a smaller capacity battery of 1,735 mAh, as opposed to 2,000 mAh in the International variant. There is also just 4 GB of internal storage, providing the XT890 has 16 GB on offer. It will be available in China starting in mid-December.

BlackBerry 10 Handset Spotted in RIM CEO’s Hand at NBA Game

Posted: 19 Nov 2012 01:33 AM PST

While attending an NBA game on November 16th, RIM CEO Thorsten Heins was caught using a mystery BlackBerry 10 device to snap pics at the ball game. He was accompanied by RIM’s senior VP, Software Product Management, Andrew Bocking. Apparently they were using some form of “BlackBerry London” prototypes and this time hopefully no one forgot them in a bar.

The device looks beautiful and even has a matching pouch, as shown in one of the pictures. There’s also a BlackBerry PlayBook in the mix, that that CEO was using, although we have no idea if that’s a newer or older version. I wonder if the RIM official managed to use the interesting Time Shift camera app on BlackBerry 10 OS. That piece of software offers the ability to take multiple pictures in one shot and then choose the best one. That works best when creating portraits and selecting a subject’s face and Time Shifting it separately, till you reach the desired result.

The camera app will allow the user to focus on individual areas of the screen, simply tapping them to focus. None of these features is unique in today’s phone world, but for the BlackBerry universe, they’re quite the innovation. Who else is excited about the BB 10 OS launch in January?

Huawei Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 Device Pictured in Blue and White Versions; Hands on Pics Here!

Posted: 19 Nov 2012 01:24 AM PST

Huawei Ascend W1 has already leaked a bunch of times, first in a blurry shot, then in a specs list and then through an official press render courtesy of @evleaks. Today we get two more hands on pictures, also revealing an interesting looking white version of the handset.

This Chinese Windows Phone 8 device will supposedly come at CES 2013, accompanied by a model called Huawei W2, a higher end unit. Notice the Nokia-style cyan huge of the blue version and HTC allure of the back of the device. You should know that the rumors have said this model is supposed to hit T-Mobile in the future. Huawei Ascend W1 comes with a 4 inch WVGA display with a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of native memory, rear and front cameras with 5 MP and 0.3 megapixel resolutions respectively.

There’s also a 2000 mAh battery on board. Huawei has an interesting situation on its hands, as it was recently accused of spying for the Chinese government and threatens with a ban of the manufacturer in Canada. Interestingly enough they’re working just fine with Microsoft apparently…
