Black Samsung Galaxy S III Gets Priced and Dated by Mobile Fun, UK Retailer

Posted: 13 Aug 2012 01:57 PM PDT

If the marble white and pebble blue Galaxy S III are not to your liking, then you’re in luck. The black version has popped up in the offer of a British retailer called Mobile Fun. Previously, the same black version was spotted on Facebook on some official shots from the Olympics. Now the device is listed as SIM free, in the black 16GB version, priced at 499.95 quid.

It’s also mentioned as coming back in stock in 4 to 6 weeks. The rest of the specs stay the same, including the quad core Exynos processor at 1.4 GHz, 4.8 inch HD display, Android 4.0 ICS, Bluetooth 4.0 and 1GB of RAM. The screen relies on a Super AMOLED Plus panel and at the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording. It’s strange to see the Galaxy S III appearing in black only now, considering the Galaxy S II sold a lot of black units as the initial version and only then came the coloured versions.

I guess that in a couple of months we’ll see the pink and other versions of Galaxy S III, the ones that may appeal more to ladies or youngsters. I can see a red one being used a active people, a black one for business men, a green one for… well, whoever likes the green devices. Are you getting the black Galaxy S III? If so, you can get it from here.

HTC One X Knockoff Passed as the One X+ on YouTube! (Video)

Posted: 13 Aug 2012 06:10 AM PDT

One idea to make traffic these days is to pass your handset for another one. Since people are looking for info on the HTC One X+, it seemed to make sense for someone to name the video below like that. However, this is not the HTC One X+ you’re seeing, but rather a knockoff of the regular HTC One X.

This phone is fatter than the One X and strangely enough it keeps the HTC and Beats Audio logos at the back, plus it copies the design perfectly. The package goes even further, bundling two battery packs of 1980 mAh and the handset has a removable backplate, unlike the OG One X. The device doesn’t have side contacts, it has a huge Beats logo and too large speaker at the back, so those are the ways to figure out it’s a fake.

The About screen seems sure this is the HTC One X+ model, but let’s be serious for a minute and realize it’s not! The Android version here is Android 4.0.1 and we would have expected a bit more from this fake, maybe Android 4.0.4 if not Jelly Bean. Be careful so you won’t fall for such tricks in the future!

Photos of Supposed iPhone 5 Motherboard Appear Online, Hint at New Antennas, New Battery

Posted: 13 Aug 2012 04:59 AM PDT

After seeing pretty much all the components of the iPhone 5 in leaks online, now we have a look at its motherboard. We already saw its dock connector, front frame, back case and battery and now the motherboard reveals some details. The component seems to be a prototype, because it misses much of the labeling.

Sadly there’s no picture of the upcoming Apple product’s processor, probably the best kept secret from the entire device. Supposedly the CPU is an A5 relative, with some tweaks. The SIM card slot, centered on the motherboard seems to be a bit smaller than the one on the iPhone 4 and 4S, so it may be that nano SIM tray, that has been rumored for a while now. The repair firm who did the teardown of the iPhone 5 parts said that the battery connector has 5 pins, unlike the iPhone 4S with 4 pins.

There are also more antenna connections present on the motherboard, leading us to believe that the new iPhone will be the first LTE handset from Apple. The digitizer connector for the display is tweaked, perhaps hinting a new screen technology from Apple. So, we’ve seen everything now…. will the iPhone 5 impress?

Sharp 5 Inch Dual SIM SH530 Device Runs Android 4.0 ICS

Posted: 13 Aug 2012 04:21 AM PDT

Looking for a cheap phablet? Sharp may have the solution, through the just announced SH530 model, that comes with dual SIM capabilities and Android 4.0 ICS as the OS of choice. Sharp is more known for making the famous Sidekick phones in USA, but other than that they left no mark on the international market.

Now they have this Sharp SH530 5 incher device that they promise to also sell on the international market. The phablet will be available in white and pink and it comes with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution, a 1 GHz dual core Mediatek chipset and 512MB of RAM. It also supports HSPA 7.2 Mbps connectivity, AGPS, uses a 5 megapixel cam at the back and a 1.3 MP one upfront. 16GB of storage and a chassis that’s 9.9mm thick are also among the specs. The handset weighs 176 grams and it has no price tag yet.

We expect it to be very affordable, unlike the Galaxy Note it’s meant to resemble/rival. This certainly doesn’t look like a phablet, since the pictures don’t do it justice and make it look like some older Alcatel tiny phone or something.
