Lumiappaday #285: Contract Killer demoed on the Nokia Lumia 900 #XboxLive Posted: 27 Aug 2012 12:31 PM PDT Contract Killer is an XboxLive game where you’re a hired sniper who is assigned to take down some ‘bad guys’. #285) Contract Killer
Developer Blurb:
Rating:Design: 9 Usability: 8 Performance: 9 – seems fine for me but others are reporting crashing with this app Price: 10 (though apparently some parts of the game require the use of real dollars?? Well that’s what the marketplace reviews are saying.) |
Video: Shiny, shiny green beetles and pink dragonflies with Nokia 808 PureView Posted: 27 Aug 2012 10:27 AM PDT With some additional glass over the 808 (held by rubber bands) you can get some really detailed super macro shots that look like they came straight out of a TV documentary. Check out how shiny this bug is.
The video below is of course by Topolino70. by topolino70
This next picture however was shared by Nokia India’s facebook page. It has been heavily compressed by facebook but it still looks great nonetheless. The photo is by Afaq Saiyed and it reminds me of the N8 dragonfly ad .

Video & Gallery: Nokia Belle Refresh on N8 + Full Changelog Posted: 27 Aug 2012 09:31 AM PDT Now that Nokia Belle Refresh has begun rolling out to all First gen devices (starting with carrier unlocked devices); we’ve gotten a chance to update our N8 and take it for a spin. Officially the changelog is tiny, claiming to bring HTML5 support, A couple new widgets, some changes to Nokia Maps and some minor tweaks all around. After doing some digging of our own and with the help of @jonjongoco we were able to piece together quite a bit more:
Updating OTA (Over the Air) will save you some precious data caps as the update is only 12MBs in size, while updating through Nokia suite on your PC will redownload the whole OS meaning you have a 350MB package to download; great if your having issues, but if not stick with OTA. Although the browser version at 8.3 is more than that of the 808 (8.2), the 808 still managed to load webpages faster, simply due to the increased processing power. |
Posted: 27 Aug 2012 05:26 AM PDT Yvonne from Nokia shares some great news today that you guys can now pick up Bell Refresh (Official!)
Cheers M Adam for the tip!
Edit (Ali)- I got it on my Green N8 (carrier free)-updating now, will be sure to post a vid once it’s done |
Video: Introduction to the full release of the Nokia SDK 2.0 for Java Posted: 27 Aug 2012 04:30 AM PDT
S40 makes up 40% of Nokia Store downloads, with Java as the platform for apps. This video provides a guide to the Nokia SDK 2.0 for Java. Also interesting to note is the performance differences between the same Java titles between 305/306 and 311.

Nokia’s share prices. Not something we post about here for various reasons (we’re not investors or capable of /want to give trading advice) as it’s not entirely indicative of the company’s performance – more it portrays the confidence (or in other instances, lack of) in what Nokia is doing. For those interested in that, here’s an interesting article:
Since July 18th, Nokia has been perplexing with a gradual recovery in stock value. Helped slightly with better than expected (the worst was expected) Q2 results, strong performing Ashas and prospect of upcoming Lumia WP8. Another thing playing into Nokia’s hands is Samsung’s slight ‘stumble’ against Apple. Sami Sarkamies, ‘analyst’ from Nordes said:
A Nomura ‘analyst’ added:
Every little helps I guess and Nokia does need all the help it can get. |
