LG Teases New Generation of Quad Core Smartphone, With Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor (Video) Posted: 25 Aug 2012 04:31 AM PDT Not only Sony and Samsung may be unveiling something at IFA 2012 in Berlin, but also LG, that has just teased a new smartphone model with a quad core processor belonging to a new generation. Recently Qualcomm confirmed that LG will be one of the companies adopting their brand new quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU. LG just posted a teaser detailing a bit the newcomer model, but they don’t reveal much and if they do it’s hidden in the subtleties, but since I don’t know Korean, I can’t really tell. Anyway, the video doesn’t reveal much, but what’s sure is that LG is preparing a handset, that could be related to the LG Optimus LTE 2, LG Eclipse 4G and Optimus G, all of them leaked or rumored recently. Seeing that LG was the first to announce a quad core Tegra 3 handset and it took them many months to launch it, I hope they’ll handle this release in a quicker way. It’s possible that they may choose IFA 2012 Berlin to unveil their product, but I can’t guarantee that. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro is already receiving high praise, because of its high performance in benchmarks and real world functioning. Aside from the quad core chipset, I also expect the inclusion of 2GB of RAM, LTE, a 4.7 inch True HD screen and a kickass 13 megapixel camera. Related posts: |
Sony Xperia J Gets Pictured in New Press Image Posted: 25 Aug 2012 03:43 AM PDT Sony Xperia J is among the newcomers that are expected to be showcased during next week’s IFA 2012 event in Berlin. Sony and Samsung are the main guests of the event, both expected to deliver a bunch of very interesting products, including the Xperia Tablet and Galaxy Note 2. Now we get a fresh press picture of the Xperia J, that can be seen below. This handset is described as affordable and its design reminds me greatly of the Xperia Arc, with that curved back. The Xperia J will feature a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen, according to unofficial reports, with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, 512 MB RAM, a 5 megapixel camera and a front VGA camera, as well as microSD card slot. Inside there’s a single core 1 GHz Qualcomm 7227A processor and Android 4.0 ICS is the OS of choice here. With this quantity of RAM and this CPU I envision this model as priced in the range of 250 euros or so and with contract it could even be available for free. Nice to see we’re getting a decent screen here, with a pretty good resolution. I imagine this as the rival to the HTC One V, for example. Related posts: |
Samsung Galaxy Stellar Coming to Verizon With “Starter Mode”, $99 Price Tag Posted: 25 Aug 2012 02:29 AM PDT Verizon is planning to launch a device called Galaxy Stellar soon and we’ve got a leaked image to confirm that. Also, we’ve got details on the product, that seems to come with a pointy chin, spotted on the predecessor Droid Charge. Another interesting feature of the product is its start mode. The image offers some hints on that mode and apparently it’s easy to use. It’s all about a smaller number of reconfigured homescreens, with handy shortcuts and commonly used features. Interestingly enough, there’s another device with a starter mode out there, the Pantech Marauder, so this is not a premiere. This model is supposed to feature LTE, a $99 price tag that applies with a 2 year contract and a compact design. It’s interesting to note that there’s Amazon Apps included here instead of the Google Play Store, at least in the promotional material below. The $99 price tag applies after a $50 mail in rebate and with a 2 year commitment. In case you want to know what a Starter mode is, it’s an option for people using Android for the first time, so they won’t get the full Android experience at once. Related posts: |
