BlackBerry 10 Devices to Feature Quad Core Snapdragon S4 Processors, LTE Tech Teased by RIM (Video) Posted: 23 Aug 2012 01:28 PM PDT We knew that the future BlackBerries would be revolutionary, but not in the level of quad core Snapdragon CPUs and 2GB of RAM. It’s true that RIM didn’t say anything about RAM, but it could happen. Well, at least they confirmed the quad core Snadpragon S4 Pro for its BlackBerry 10 OS devices that will come in early 2013. So, we’ve got right now a Xiaomi phone with the quad core Snapdragon, then a mystery upcoming LG phone and now one or two new BlackBerry models. It has also been confirmed that the BB 10 OS units will have HD displays and the new quad core setup also brings the Adreno 320 graphics, so we’ll get some very cool gaming experiences. Another nifty promise for the future is that BlackBerry models will get the Snapdragon S5 chipset in mid 2013. Qualcomm’s best CPU offers LTE/HSPA+ 4G radio inside, so RIM will have connectivity covered too. Meanwhile, for those worried about the 28nm production of chips, don’t be, since the problems are gone and the new chipset is good to go. Nokia will move to multicore and HD, RIM too, so who’s left to keep the single core poor res fort? webOS in a poor and reborn form? In other news, RIM posted the following video about LTE connectivity, possibly a teaser for future devices. Related posts: |
Xiaomi Phone 1S Gets Huge Amount of Orders: 200k in 30 Minutes Posted: 23 Aug 2012 12:47 PM PDT Xiaomi is a huge hit apparently, so after managing to sell over 3.5 million units of the original Xiaomi One handset, the Chinese phone company released the upgraded version Xiaomi One S. This must not be confused with the Xiaomi 2, that was released a week ago and it’s the first handset with a Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. Meanwhile, Xiaomi One S is also pretty appealing, having a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon s3 chipset and it became a huge hit, selling 200.000 units in 30 minutes. The One S serves as a minor update to the Xiaomi One and its specs list includes a dual core Snapdragon S3 chipset at 1.7 GHz, 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and an 8 megapixel camera at the back, plus 2 megapixel front camera. There’s also Bluetooth 4.0 on board, a 4 inch capacitive screen, Android 4.0 ICS with MIUI offered as ROM. Finally we have microSDHC card support and this product is only available in China for now, although I expect an international launch soon. Xiaomi itself hinted at a possible international debut, so stay on your toes for this one! 1.3 million units of the One S are reserved now and the product ships on August 23rd. Related posts: |
ZTE Blade III Leaks Ahead of Announcement Posted: 23 Aug 2012 08:13 AM PDT ZTE is a big Chinese phone vendor and the rival of the famous Huawei. They’re known for making budget phones, with the Blade model being one of them. Launched in September 2010 in the UK as Orange San Francisco, the device became sort of a hit because it was available for less than 100 pounds. A year later the Blade II came out and now we’ve got details on the ZTE Blade III. The specs of the device leaked out together with these pictures and they indicate a cleaner design, Android 4.0 ICS and the same budget price. The Blade III is said to have a 4 inch screen and a price tag of 200 euros. Its specs include a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 512 MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.1 and FM stereo radio with RDs. It also comes with a Li-Ion 1600 mAh battery and if you wonder where this info came, it’s from a Finnish retailer. ZTE Blade III measures 10.9 mm in thickness and weighs 113 grams. It appears that over the past hours the listing on the site has changed, since initially it was showing a 3.5 inch display and Samsung as the maker of the device. Make of this leak what you will and expect a possible unveiling of the phone during the IFA 2012 Berlin show. Related posts: |
