During the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, at the time of Brian May’s solo, they went close up on a Nokia.

But which one is it :)

Lumiappaday #271: Endless Robot Street demoed on the Nokia Lumia 900

Posted: 12 Aug 2012 02:50 PM PDT

Nothing much to Endless Robot Street except this silent robot foot that goes about crushing the cars and people on the street. Why? I don’t know. It’s just a good time waster app, maybe relieve some stress and imagine he’s smushing some annoying people.

Would be nice if there was some sort of counter.

Whatsapp Back in WP Marketplace; Loads of Mini Changes in Tow

Posted: 12 Aug 2012 12:59 PM PDT

After about a week of going MIA Whatsapp is back on the Windows Phone Marketplace with a nice changelog of minor fixes; and in case you were inclined to believe the rumors, don’t worry It’s still free (Yay!).

As there’s no official changelog this is based on what I’ve experienced:

  • MUCH MUCH smoother (the whole phone feels smoother, I think Whatsapp was eating too much ram)
  • New shortcuts in active chats to create groups, Search for contact and edit status
  • Search function under favorites & all
  • New animations when opening chats
  • Somehow Whatsapp is acting as media/music meaning you can access it from the drop down volume control bar (icon is the same as the radio/streaming icon)

I think it’s possible that whatsapp was causing some issues with the latest update on the Lumia 900 as mine was seriously buggy after the Software update; but now everything is smooth sailing; if you’ve noticed anything else let us know down below.

Collection: Tiny Creatures shot on Nokia 808 PureView

Posted: 12 Aug 2012 04:33 AM PDT

Here’s a collection of tiny creatures captured with the Nokia 808 PureView. Using the PureView class zoom, you get closer to your subjects without physically intruding in their space and scaring them away. You don’t lose quality (that you would otherwise lose if you tried to zoom in post production). The zoom is quick and noise free, and the AF can handle getting focus on your close up subjects.

Apparently some stabilisation from youtube was applied which actually made it more wobbly.

Nokia X2 vs. Bullet = A life saved and X2 a real hero

Posted: 12 Aug 2012 12:31 AM PDT

Today, in the early morning (3.00 AM) a friend of mine on Facebook messaged me reporting about an incident which happened in Syria where a civil war is going on.

A Nokia X2 user, who lives there in Syria was filming the fight going on between the rebels and military.
Bombs and bullets were being fired like throwing water on fire, X2 user came more closer to battle site.

He was capturing video with his X2 almost in front of his mouth, holding X2 with his right hand.

On getting closer to battle site, a bullet was fired towards him and it struck!…….not on him (phew!). That bullet got stuck into his Nokia X2 and he got away without a single scratch.

At any rate, this was a real breathtaking incident and just goes to show that Nokia devices are actually tough to beat with respect to build quality. The other Nokia phones like 1600, 1100, etc and now X2 are proof that Nokia devices are like ‘invincible’. And yes, this is a real incident.
