Samsung Galaxy Nexus Banned in the USA! Apple Wins… for Now! Posted: 30 Jun 2012 05:16 AM PDT Believe it or not, it’s still possible to ban a product many months after it was launched. Samsung and Apple were disputing in court earlier this week on the preliminary injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and now the bad luck continues for the South Koreans. Apple got a second injunction against Samsung, this time for the Galaxy Nexus. Details of the ruling are not available in full, but Samsung is clearly facing a big problem here. The injunction doesn’t even mean that the product is violating Apple’s technologies or patents, it’s just a way to put product sales on hold pending the decision regarding its infringements… or lack of. Apple has to post a $96 million bond in order to support the injunction, quite a bit more than the $2.6 million posted for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Anyway, the damage could not be that serious, considering the bulk of GNex units already sold over the past months. However, people may want to rush in and buy the product in order to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean among the first and also catch those summer price reductions for July 4th or whatnot… How will this end? It would be nice if we knew exactly how long this ban lasts… Related posts: |
Samsung and HTC to Publish Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update Lists Soon Posted: 30 Jun 2012 04:59 AM PDT On Wednesday Google announced the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update at I/O 2012 and now we’re waiting for the first release dates of the software. It appears that HTC and Samsungwill make some announcements on that front soon enough. Anyway, till then you should know that the first devices to receive the latest Android will be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S and Motorola Xoom in mid July. Other models will also get the Jelly Bean update soon after and I suspect that the Galaxy Tab 2 units and Galaxy Note, for example are on the list. Recent rumors said that the Galaxy S II may not receive Jelly Bean, that would be a huge bummer, although I don’t believe those rumors. HTC also declared that it’s excited as far as Android 4.1 goes and will support it on a variety of devices. The Taiwanese company is reviewing the software right now and promised to get back to use with an upgrade schedule. Since Jelly Bean is basically an upgrade on top of Android 4.0 and not a real major update, it should go faster than the move from Gingerbread to ICS. Hopefully we won’t have to wait till this fall or winter before getting our updates… Related posts: |
Android 4.0 ICS Updates Finally Available on Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX (Video) Posted: 30 Jun 2012 12:56 AM PDT We’ve told you about the upcoming Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Droid RAZR units a while ago and we’re finally there! The Motorola Droid RAZR, the 7.1mm thick smartphone and its fatter cousin, the Droid RAZR MAXX have received Android 4.0 ICS via official means. Numerous tips were posted online, showing that the update is live and can be manually installed on the devices. Verizon was also said to be pushing the update this Sunday, but they managed to roll it out earlier. Originally Moto promised to deliver the software in Q2 and they kept the promise… barely. In order to get the update, you need to go to Settings, then About and then System Settings. You’ll check for the update and will be prompted to download and install the fresh software. What you get here is enabling the devices to work on global roaming, taking advantage of voice/data services in 220 countries all over the world. There will also be new versions of Backup Assistant Plus, Smartactions, video calling portal and Verizon’s Apps Store. Other enhancements include better stability, performance, faster browser, new camera UI, face unlock, swiping multitasking, enhanced email experience and more, shown in the video below: Related posts: |
