Samsung Galaxy S3 Developer Edition Now Available from Samsung’s Website (32GB Pebble Blue)

Posted: 16 Jul 2012 07:36 AM PDT

There’s a landing page for the Samsung Galaxy S3 Developer Edition, courtesy of Samsung itself. This is a Verizon version available in Pebble Blue, with 32GB of storage. Right now the listing shows the model with a “Coming Soon” tag and no price at all.

Rumors say that the device might sell for $599 and the Developer Edition is actually a bargain, if you consider that Verizon sells 32GB S3 units for $649. If you want this edition of the smartphone, you will have to get it from Samsung’s store. The version sold by Verizon is subsidized and features a signed bootloader, but there’s word of a software patch to solve that problem. So, if you want an open device with Android and some Verizon affiliation, this is the way to go.

The other specs stay the same, including the quad core Exynos CPU, 8 MP camera, 4.8 inch HD display and 1GB of RAM. I would expecting more special features from a developer edition, to be honest… Just look at the Nokia N900 compared to the N9.

iPhone 5 Front Frame Leaked, Production of the Phone Already Started, Apparently

Posted: 16 Jul 2012 04:21 AM PDT

Another week, another batch of iPhone 5 rumors, this time related to its front frame, that was leaked in a bunch of pictures, shown below. The images come from Apple.pro and they show the front frame of the new iPhone both regular and flipped.

As you can see we’re dealing with a tall handset with a widescreen aspect, plus a modified front camera position. Now the cam is centered on top of the speaker, like on the iPod. The iPhone 4S had the sensors placed on top of the speakers and those were moved to where the webcam was this time. In other news, the iPhone 5 is already being produced, according to insiders, so we’re bound to see a leaked hands on video from a Chinese or Brazilian plant sooner or later.

The same rumors say that the design may now involve a combo of aluminum and glass at the back. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but for now the consensus is that we’ll have a 4+ inch iPhone with a moved front camera, bigger speakers, smaller connector dock, iOS 6.0 and a new CPU.

Motorola Atrix HD AT&T Version Available Today; Galaxy Nexus Available for $99.99 on Sprint

Posted: 16 Jul 2012 01:58 AM PDT

AT&T kept its promise and launched Motorola Atrix HD this weekend, priced at $99.99 on contract. The handset comes with Android 4.0 ICS preinstalled and packs a 4.5 inch HD display. In other news, Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the Sprint version now also costs $99.99.

Back to the Motorola Atrix HD, this newcomer packs LTE connectivity, 1GB of RAM and a 1.5 GHz dual core processor. Also on board there’s an 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.3MP front cam and Kevlar fiber layer at the back. The handset can be purchased online at AT&T or in carrier stores all over the USA. The Atrix HD was rumored for a long time, so it generated quite a bit of hype surrounding it. Will it live up to that? We’ll just have to wait and see.

It’s interesting to notice the evolution of the Galaxy Nexus pricing, that went from $199.99 on contract to $149.99 and now $99.99. With everyone speculating about the iPad Mini and iPhone 5, I wonder if this price reduction means that we should add another speculation to the list: a new Nexus phone.
