Samsung Galaxy Note II Benchmarks Spotted in GLBenchmark… Or What Looks Like Them Posted: 21 Jul 2012 04:12 AM PDT After finding out that Samsung is about to unveil something fresh on August 15th, we now discover some benchmarks for the Samsung Galaxy Note II, a clear hint of what’s coming. Speculations about the upcoming phablet were already available for a while now, so I can’t say I’m surprised. This time it’s GLBenchmark that gives us details about the upcoming phablet. Considering the Galaxy Note from a year ago had the codename GT-N7000, the just leaked device codenamed GT-N7100 is most likely its follow-up, the Galaxy Note II. Benchmarks show that we’re dealing with a device that runs Android 4.0 ICS on top of a quad core Exynos 4412 CPU, with Mali 400 graphics, the same ones used on the Samsung Galaxy S III. However, the CPU clock speed has been upgraded, being pushed to 1.6 GHz, a 200 MHz increase from the S III. Other leaked specifications include a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and Android 4.0.4 ICS as the OS, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Jelly Bean was on board in fact. So, Samsung’s holding an Unpacked event next month and now this leaks. Pretty clear, right? All we need now is to find out the exact diagonal of the device and if there are any upgrades to the S Pen and related applications. Related posts: |
Samsung Teases Unpacked Event and New Galaxy Model for Next Month Posted: 21 Jul 2012 02:54 AM PDT The pieces of the puzzle are coming together, as Samsung teased a big Unpacked event taking place next month, probably related to the debut of the Galaxy Note II, that has been rumored for a while now. We’ve heard about a possible Note II unveiling in August, maybe at IFA 2012 and here we are with the date August 15th made official. It’s been a while since we saw a new tablet from Samsung, so that may also be the subject of this launch. After all, a Galaxy Tab is still a Galaxy product, right? Anyway, the Galaxy Note II is the most likely option and recent speculations say that it will come with a 5.5 inch HD or Full HD screen, the same form factor as the Galaxy S III and a quad core Exynos CPU, the same as the one on the S III. I also expect some improvements to the S Pen stylus and S Pen related applications. It’s nice to see that in the midst of all the lawsuits and problems, Samsung still has time to come up with something new, something that’s certainly not the subject of the usual Apple lawsuits. The first Galaxy Note gained a strong following and I expect the Note II to draw at least as many fans as the predecessor. Related posts: |
Radio Shack Now Offers You $50 Off Android Purchases of Over $100 Posted: 21 Jul 2012 02:44 AM PDT If you’re willing to jump to a new Android phone, you may want to buy it from Radio Shack, since they’re now basically offering you $50 to buy one of their Android phones. They offer goes like this: you make an Android purchase of $100 or more and you get $50 off. They also mention that you need an upgrade or new 2 year plan and qualifying data pack, that was expecting frankly speaking. Among the models included in the promotion we find the Samsung Galaxy S III, Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX and Motorola Droid RAZR. There are handsets from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon on the list, so you can pick your favourite carrier. The deal goes on till July 28th, so you have about a week to pick your poison. If you make the purchase online, you’ll have until the end of August to decide. The good thing here is that if you’re the client of a carrier and you want to renew your contract, you’re basically getting a new phone for almost nothing. Expect similar end of summer offers from other retailers and store chains, since the new generations of devices are coming up and the old ones need to be sold before they’re left on stock. Some examples here: Samsung Galaxy Note, the Droid RAZR, Galaxy Nexus and the iPhone 4S. Related posts: |
