LG Prada 3.0 Gets Updated to Android 4.0 in Germany/Italy Posted: 07 Jul 2012 04:20 AM PDT If you’re a fashionista who really wanted the LG Prada Phone 3.0 and got it months ago when it appeared, we have good news for you: the handset just got updated to Android 4.0 ICS. At least that’s what happened to some users in Germany and Italy over the past days… The new firmware brings resizable widgets, new lock screen actions, quick response for incoming calls and a better voice input system. The camera UI is also tweaked and I sure hope that the camera performance of the Prada Phone 3.0 is better, since it was a bit crappy when we tested it. LG-specific apps have also been updated, I guess and I can’t help but wonder if the UI of the phone is still in black and white. Sadly this is not a OTA update, so you’ll have to use the LG Mobile Phone Support tool to get the software. After Germany and Italy the rest of the world should get the update for the Prada Phone 3.0 as well. Nice to see that most famous phones and tablets are being covered, so after getting ICS on the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab units and big HTCs it’s not time for LG devices to get Android 4.0. Nokia 808 PureView 41MP Cameraphone Now Available on Amazon, Priced at $699 Posted: 07 Jul 2012 01:54 AM PDT Nokia’s most awaited phone, the 808 PureView 41 megapixel cameraphone has just been spotted on Amazon, where it goes for $699 unlocked of course. It also gets US warranty and it’s available in white for now. An extra reason to get this device is the one mentioned by The Nokia Blog on Facebook: in a recent blind test by GSMArena, the Nokia 808 PureView beat the micro 4/3 camera Olympus PEN E-PL2. Anyway, know that for $700 you get a 41 megapixel camera sensor with Carl Zeiss lens, PureView imaging technology and the ability to capture full HD 1080p video. There’s also a Xenon flash on board and separate LED for video recording. You also get HDMI and DLNA output, NFC, WiFi, preloaded Nokia Maps, turn by turn navigation for 100 countries and more, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 4 inch nHD screen. Stereo FM radio, Dolby audio and a 1400 mAh battery are also included. One of the handset’s main appeals is that 3x lossless zoom, that allows you to take a photo and zoom in up to 3 times without any loss of detail. When shooting video in Full HD you get up to 4x lossless zoom for smoother image capture and very sharp content. Nokia 808 PureView also supports 7.1 channels surround, so when you watch a movie on it or listen to music, the audio quality will be superb. Getting one? Related posts:

Samsung Gets Galaxy Nexus Ban Delay in the States, Waiting for Apple Response Posted: 07 Jul 2012 12:49 AM PDT While everyone was worrying that Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus will be a victim of Apple’s greed and patent obsession, now it appears that the banned phone is actually not banned anymore in USA. Sammy got a temporary stay of the ban in the States, as they wait for Apple’s response on the matter, coming July 12th. Well, this means that Google can post the Galaxy Nexus on Google Play once more, for a couple more days. The device is still listed as coming soon right now, but in just hours it may come back online. I have to remind you that the ban applied to the latest Nexus phone over the past days was put in motion by Judge Lucy Koh, who gave in to Apple demands and arguments and coupled this injunction with the one of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. While the latter can’t be saved, at least the Galaxy Nexus has a chance. Also, since the software is the problem, not the hardware, I guess a mere update will suffice to chase Apple away. This is exactly the same thing that HTC did when its phones were stuck at the US Customs: offer an update to clear the function that Apple says they copied from them. Related posts: |
Sony LT30p Gets Bluetooth Certification and a Bunch of Specs Leaked Posted: 07 Jul 2012 12:23 AM PDT Sony may have launched at least half a dozen of new models this year, but they leaked almost as much, so there’s still a lot to see from the Japanese maker in 2012. A freshly leaked device is the LT30p model, that gets Bluetooth certification and some specifications leaked. This handset is based on a Snapdragon S4 processor and a 720p display, making it sound like a HTC One S rival. The user agent profile of the smartphone revealed part of the features weeks ago. As far as software goes, Android 4.0 is on board obviously and it appears that this device will feature a 4.6 inch display and 13 megapixel camera at the back, with 1080p video capture, with high quality stereo sound. The front camera will support 720p video chatting. If you’re wondering about design, we’re dealing with a premium phone, described as featuring “an ARC design with metal black cover”. The handset is 9 mm thick and weighs around 140 grams, that certainly sounds like Arc standards. Could this be the long rumored Sony Xperia Arc HD, that everyone has been talking about?
