Carphone Warehouse’s ‘overclocked’ 11.4GHz Nokia Lumia 900 :P

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 04:22 PM PDT

Woah, hold your horses right there. This is of course, another typo error.

Someone’s keyboard got a bit stuck and typed out a 11.4GHz processor on Carphone Warehouse’s brochure, instead of 1.4GHz. I guess at times it’s smooth enough to make people think it has much more power under the hood than what it currently has.

It makes me wonder – how many more years until something like this isn’t so impossible to believe?

I mean, already this year, (or last year, depending on when you heard about it) Nokia already stunned is with a 41MP sensor in a camera phone. 4.1 right? Nope. 41MP. I can remember being a member of forums, ‘dreaming’ about crazy unbelievable specifications that are no longer that surprising now.

This image was found by @llaadd in CPW’s magazine. Cheers!

Lumiappaday #233: das Image demoed on the Nokia Lumia 900

das image is really quite an excellent image viewer. What I love are the predefined categories so you can just browse. I also like the panoramic metro layout. Overall nice app.

Video: Explore Gotham City in 3D

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 07:36 AM PDT

Well this is cool, Nokia’s doing a little bit more with their 3D mapping it seems.

Coming soon, supposedly, is Gotham City in 3D. How awesome is that?

Hopefully this may showcase Nokia still being capable of doing high quality 3D maps, even after Apple pulled the rug by buying C3.

There’s so many good things at Nokia, but they just need to come together.

Who’s Who? #GuessTheNokia

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 06:30 AM PDT

Another just for fun, Guess the Nokia time again on the Nokia facebook page.

Might be a little hard to distinguish based on the similarity of a few Nokia designs. Is it possibly to identify for certain? Have a go…:)

Can you tell what’s what?

Here’s a look at NitDroid after the PR1.3 update. Works just like before.

Easy enough to boot up MeeGo-Harmattan and then switch to NitDroid and back.

My Dream Nokia #53: Nokia Lumia Elements, 12mp 4.3″ 720p Concept

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 06:10 AM PDT

Here’s a second MyDreamNokia post, also from LokiBartleby. This is called the Nokia Lumia Elements.

Here are the supposed specs:

 4.3″ 720p AMOLED CBD display
- Aluminum unibody + polycarbonate with ceramic-like finish
- OS: Windows Phone
- 12MP camera with Carl Zeiss lens

The basic idea for this concept was to bring some more metal to the Nokia Lumia line-up. ;)
The picture I used for the lockscreen was taken by one of my brothers.

About "My Dream Nokia"

I'm sure you've dreamt up your PERFECT Nokia device/UI. What it would look like, what it would feel like, what features it would have. Why don't you share it with the world? Or at least with other Nokia fans :D .

It could be your own photoshopped or rendered work (seriously, you don't need mega skills in either, basic paint job is often enough to convey a concept) of your dream product.

SEND this in similarly to tips@mynokiablog.com with the title "My Dream Nokia" and perhaps the model number (and a little description, maybe a few specs in the message area? Though this bit not necessary).

Who knows, maybe an image might flutter over to Nokia and through whatever route end up being real

My Dream Nokia #52: Nokia N8-08 PureView 41MP Symbian Concept

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 06:08 AM PDT

Found these on DeviantArt by LokiBartleby. It’s a very interesting design for a Nokia N8-08 concept.

It features a 41MP sensor, with xenon and Dual LED flash.

The design is somewhat more N9/800 like. Flat top and bottom, curved front.

You can see from here this is another Symbian phone.

The keys also look to be solid buttons as opposed to capacitive.

Video: Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-310 – Easily manage your calls when driving

Posted: 05 Jul 2012 01:39 AM PDT

This is James Hammond, Senior Manager from Nokia’s Gear department. In this video he’s showing off the Nokia BH-310 NFC Bluetooth Earpiece, and quite interestingly, demoes the NFC connection on a Nokia Lumia 610 NFC.

I like it when the Nokia peeps themselves demo their devices or accessories.

BTW, do you guys think NFC should have it’s own renamed brand thing at Nokia? That’s all the rage these days to rename every day things so that regardless of what the other competition does, (even if they match or better yours) you still have your unique sounding technology. e.g. ‘Retina’ display for high resolution or ‘Android Beam’.

AAS: Nokia N82 vs Nokia N8 vs Nokia 808 PureView Camera Tests (and a Damian Dinning Response)

Second part of the Steve Litchfield double whammy which includes a generous helping of Damian Dinning too.

Nokia’s imaging guru, Damian Dinning responds in two large comments to Stve’s mega test

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/item/15148_Nokia_808_PureView_part_2a_cam.php#comment-575536591

This review is also a testament on the amazing job Nokia accomplished in the 808′s predecessors, N8 and N82.

These Xenon brothers were always ahead of the pack regarding all around camera performance, night and day.

The Blurry pic at the bottom? What is that? Why that’s a HTC One S.

Do read on as Steve’s test is actually part 2 of his Nokia 808 Review and there is of course that added bonus in the comments to Steve’s post from Damian Dinning (almost as long, if not longer than the review itself).

For a summary, the conclusion:

  1. Even the 2008 Nokia N82 camera is still comparable with, and in some situations superior to, the cameras in today’s non-Nokia flagships (e.g. iPhone 4S/Galaxy S III/One X)
  2. The 2010 Nokia N8 camera is still significantly ahead of the non-Nokia competition
  3. Used with default (9MP crop of the 12MP sensor) settings, the native resolutions on the Nokia N8 can often (depending on light) produce more detailed, clearer photos than the 808 PureView using its 5MP default. Partly this shows how good and high specification the N8 was/is, partly this is down the low resolution default chosen by Nokia for the 808.
  4. Set to 8MP PureView mode in particular, the Nokia 808, in my opinion, produces better, more detailed photos in all light conditions than any phone on the planet.
The N82, I can confirm as I had to use it when both my n8 and dedicated digicam was dead (and 60D was impossible to bring due to its bulk) performed like a champ, besting out pictures of course from other friends camera phones and even their digicams. 2007 phone guys.
N8 is still a trooper of course but 808 is the best all around.
