Nokia Releases Exclusive “Batman Origins” app for Lumias Posted: 13 Jul 2012 04:35 AM PDT Last night Nokia published yet another Batman related exclusive app for WP (found only under Nokia collection); “Batman Origins” is a pretty sweet comic book reader that has the origin stories/comics for the main characters in the upcoming “Dark Knight Rises” (Batman, Catwoman, Bane, Scarecrow). the app itself is pretty cool as it transitions from pane to pane like a real comic reader should, anyways check it out guys! Grab the app from the Nokia collection of the WP marketplace or scan the QR code below: *random thought: Am I the only person whos SUPER excited for this movie? Bane is going to be crazy! Also Anne Hatheway as catwoman!!!!So much excitement!! shame they delayed the release here till August |
Nokia India FB Page Opens Preorders for Lumia 800 Dark Knight Edition Posted: 13 Jul 2012 04:23 AM PDT The Nokia India page just tweeted a Link to pre-order your very own engraved TDKR Lumia 800 (in black of course), apparently there are only 200 of these available, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to make more.

Video: Nokia Transport with detailed line view and multiple tiles Posted: 13 Jul 2012 03:09 AM PDT Nokia’s uploaded a video showing Nokia Transport, an app that helps with public transport, on the Nokia Lumia 900. Nokia transit factors in walking times to stations as well as giving directions to those stations, and apparently some more as it guides to your final destination. They’ve got someone called Josh who lives in New York to demo it. I don’t think he’s Nokia staff.

Vanjoki not involved in Jolla Mobile Posted: 13 Jul 2012 12:49 AM PDT Since Jolla Mobile were not yet ready to detail their partners/investors, some had been speculating that perhaps Ex Nokia Hero (well to many Nokia fans), Anssi Vanjoki might be an angel investor that would provide some funds for this new startup. According to the story below, whilst Anssi is happy with what Jolla Mobile is trying (he did have a penchant for MeeGo and N9) he says he’s not involved. Cheers jiipee for the tip! |
Nielsen’s Q2 2012 US Mobile Subscriber market share estimates. Posted: 13 Jul 2012 12:44 AM PDT Here’s a report from Nielsen showing marketshare numbers for USA. Whilst there have been news that Nokia was selling the most out of the current gen Windows Phones, Nielsen shows that they are still behind Samsung/HTC for overall phones in US. Total marketshare for Windows Phone in USA is 1.3%, still less than the 3% of older generation Windows Mobile devices. Nokia’s WP share of 0.3% is also still less than the total Symbian sales from the past. Note: another table to look at for current USA sales is
This shows Windows Phone current sales at 3% whilst Symbian is at 0.5%. Although it doesn’t look like it, both of these Nokia used platforms grew from this time last year. It takes a very long time to get overall marketshare numbers – as evident by the amount of time Symbian had been top in terms of current installed user base (it’s difficult to trust statcounter on this one as they’ve been including S40 into Symbian up until April 2012, hence why there seems to be an insane crash afterwards as S40 had been propping up Symbian marketshare data for Statcounter). Statcounter’s findings (1.02%) for WP is quite similar to Nielsens. Symbian shows up at 0.32%. Note, statcounter is based on browser activity of all current handsets in use, not just what had been sold.
Cheers skyfall for the heads up |
