Sony Xperia LT30p Mint Details, Photo Samples Leaked; Hot Cameraphone Coming in H2?

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 04:52 AM PDT

Sony Xperia LT30p Mint has already been leaked before, apparently, but now we have some specs of this model rumored to be the Xperia Z high end unit. Aside from the specs, leaks also include photo samples taken with the camera on this device.

The device is supposed to become the future flagship of Sony and rumors say it will come with a big 4.6 inch HD display, a Snapdragon S4 processor (could be dual or quad core), 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot on board, a non removable battery, a microSIM card slot and support for NFC. The Arc design will be kept here, with a slight curve at the back of the phone. It appears that as far as design goes, there will be some changes to the usual format: the physical buttons will be placed on the bottom right side of the device, making them easy to access with a single hand.

Sony Xperia Mint will sport a lock button, volume rocker and a dedicated camera shutter key and its case will be plasticky, but with a rubberized coating. The selling point here will be the 13 megapixel camera, with a new Exmor R sensor, with excellent low light performance. The pictures included in this article are testimony to the quality of the sensor. Xperia Mint is expected to run Android 4.0 ICS, with a Jelly Bean update soon after the launch. It’s also meant to include some OS tweaks, like the ability of having widgets stay on top when entering the multitasking.

Know that the camera at the back will do 1080p capture, while the one at the front will offer 720p video capture. MHL output and 4G LTE support round up the specs list. Hopefully the price won’t be obscene for this unit…

ZTE Kis Now Available on Virgin Media for 50 Quid

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 02:28 AM PDT

ZTE is known for making lower end smartphones and competing with Huawei in the same market segment. Now they deliver yet another rivaling model, the ZTE Kis, that landed on Virgin Media in the UK yesterday, priced at 50 quid. ZTE Kis comes with a Pay As You Go offer and you can see the device below.

We’re dealing with a 3.5 inch 480 x 320 screen on board of the newcomer, while under the hood we find an 800 MHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, 512MB of storage and a microSD card slot. At the back there’s a 3.2 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom. Not a bad deal for that price, right? Too bad for that storage, that’s bound to cause some problems when you install apps, but at least you get a free 2GB card in the box, in case you didn’t know.

The handset runs just Gingerbread, but be honest, you didn’t expect Android 4.0 ICS on it, did you? Other specs include Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, GPS, triband 3G and a chassis that’s 11.5mm thick and 120 grams heavy. Powering this handset is a 1,400 mAh battery, good enough for a full day of functioning. Virgin Media offers the handset from yesterday and you can buy it from their site right now.

Sony Xperia Acro S Launching Next Week in Taiwan

Posted: 12 Jul 2012 02:05 AM PDT

Sony is keeping truly busy, releasing at least a triplet of new smartphones each month of 2012. Now some of their announcements from the past months will turn into in-store products, such as the Xperia Acro S, seen below. This model was announced back in May, together with the Xperia Go and it will be available starting next week.

Initial availability is scheduled for Taiwan and ePrice got a closer look at the phone, finding out that the handset will debut in Taiwan as soon as July 19. The device will also be launched in China around the same time frame apparently. Reasons to get interested in this phone are plenty, including a 4.3 inch HD display, Android 4.0 ICS with support for Android 4.1 update and a 1.5 GHz dual core processor.

The price of the smartphone isn’t known for now, but judging from the specs, it will be pretty high. The handset also comes with a 12 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front cam, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a dust/water-proof body. So, are you getting one? Is the water thing really appealing to anyone, as a selling point I mean?
