There’s not really a lot to this game. You just draw loops around your enemies which sends them to some other dimension whilst you steal their souls.

Developer Blurb:

The Revenants is a top down, touch-based action puzzle game created by Chaotic Moon Studios.  The game follows a newly formed spirit as it struggles to survive in the haunted catacombs of a dark afterlife.  To survive, you must capture and feed on other ghosts before they destroy you!  Your goal is to absorb their energy and transform your character from a weak, insignificant spirit to a powerful Revenant ghost-god.  During gameplay, you use simple finger tracing to create whirling vortices that consume the dangerous creatures encountered while exploring the dark corridors.  But be warned!  The other ghosts have unique and terrifying powers.  You must observe each opponent and experiment with different tactics in order to prevail.  In the end, you will need to have mastered both movement and strategy, if you are to walk the path from lonely spirit to Revenant god, and escape the haunted prison where you awoke.

Video: Firefox OS, B2G running on Nokia N9?

Posted: 20 Jul 2012 07:29 AM PDT

What you’re looking at in this video is supposedly FireFox OS on the Nokia N9 via B2G..

Very nice result of merging Mozilla Firefox OS project and Nitdroid N9.
Nitdroid provides Android HAL for N9, and B2G/FF OS actually ported already to android HAL.
As result we have N9 running B2G, wlan support, hdspa, data connection, SMS, and simple phone calls without sound.
WebGL, HW acceleration works not super fast but acceptable

No WP8 hit yet, Lumia sales growing in Q3?

Posted: 20 Jul 2012 06:35 AM PDT

Another post from Janne. We had a brief look at the earnings call yesterday through Stefan but now the full transcript is available. There’s legitimate fears that with MS’s news on WP8, Lumia sales would crash in Q3. Nokia’s aware of this and will take measures either to maintain or even possible grow Lumia shipments (hopefully not at the expense of giving them away).

_______________

We are obviously watching the growth of Lumia sales with high interest, so it was interesting to find a little nugget of information in the full earnings call transcript (thanks to Viipottaja and Zipa for pointing this out).

Q3 is a transitional quarter for Lumia, because Windows Phone 8 was announced in late Q2 and will appear assumedly by Q4. During this time sales of current WP7 devices may be affected, although Nokia will obviously compensate with price-cuts and promotions as well as through the now-wider global and price-range availability of Lumias (especially Lumia 610 and Lumia 900).

Here is what Stephen Elop had to say:

to prepare developers for the new Windows Phone platform, Microsoft announced the Windows Phone 8 platform in June. As a result, we anticipate some impact to our Lumia business in Q3, although Lumia activations have been flat to up in the weeks following the announcement of Windows Phone 8. Thus, leading up to the introduction of the Windows Phone 8 products, we plan to introduce tactical measures and promotional campaigns. As we do throughout any product life cycle, we plan to pursue traditional marketing and promotional activities to encourage the adoption of Lumia devices.

Lumia sales have been either holding steady or going up (I assume depending on market) since the Windows Phone 8 announcement. In the month after the WP8 announcement, at least no big drop is yet to happen.

Do check out the full transcript, it is a good read.

Video: How Nokia Drive can make your commute even easier

Posted: 20 Jul 2012 06:28 AM PDT

This is Nokia’s promo for the new update for Nokia Drive that brings some handy features to your commute.

With the new Nokia Drive, it can learn your journeys and anticipate your driving habits. Quite nicely they show the tile indicating how long that commute would take. When ready, just tap the tile. I like the inclusion of the morning chores (breakfast, shower).

Now you can see Nokia Drive in action, with the actual driver in an actual car on an actual road (it might sound silly but this is much better than simply displaying the phone screen).

Can you imagine what Nokia Drive would be like in WP8 when full voice control is available to developers? You could talk to Nokia Drive and tell it to reroute or find another location before the final destination all without taking your hands off the wheel (or getting someone else) to touch the phone.

Overall, good production on the video for a web promo. I’d like something like this (with a little bit more polish, more concise) to be a TV advert.

Video: Nokia 808 PureView Bulgarian Music Video (+hot air ballons and belly dancing)

This is a music video shot on the Nokia 808 PureView. You can even see some of the Symbian style camera UI intermittently appearing in between shots.

Cheers momchil/chilko for the tip!

Whilst we’re here, a couple more 808 videos (cheers Stylinred).

Some belly dancing and hot air balloons.

In this video it would be difficult to be carrying a DSLR or a camera. With the 808, it’s more natural. It wasn’t like you were waiting for a photo opportunity, you let them come to you and the 808 is ready for it. Great video, great sound, great zooming.

Video: Set up Mail for Exchange on your Nokia Asha 302

Posted: 20 Jul 2012 03:43 AM PDT

Normally reserved for one of their tutorial/how to channels, Nokia’s uploaded a video giving instructions on setting up Mail for Exchange on the Nokia Asha 302.

I don’t like how it just breezes through finding the server/domain as if that’s something you’ll know from the top of your head. I guess it does get a little complicated when you don’t use one of the bigger mail providers, like gmail, hotmail, or yahoo. I prefer them for the simplicity of password and email address log in.

BTW, why is it called Mail for Exchange?

Video: Cannes 2012 . Find inspiration with the Nokia Lumia 900

In this video, Nokia are at Cannes using the CNN iReport app on the Nokia Lumia 900. I think the 808 might be more fitting. There’s a CNN app at Nokia Store,  and I think you can also submit your own story there with iReport. If you do have a Lumia, you can check out the CNN app at Marketplace.
