Motorola Photon Q QWERTY Slider Sporting Handset Coming in 2012

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 11:10 AM PDT

Motorola’s Photon Q Android smartphone is supposed to launch in the second half of 2012. This phone is pictured below and it’s a LTE device for the US market.

We’re dealing with a QWERTY slider here, a rare format in these full touch days. The info about the debut of the Photon Q didn’t come from Moto, but from Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. The specifications haven’t been confirmed, but based on previous leaks and rumors the device is supposed to have a 4.3 inch display, on screen navigation buttons instead of physical buttons.

The OS is Android 4.0 ICS here and the CPU, camera resolution and the presence of MOTOBLUR are unknown right now, but that 5 row keyboard certainly looks appealing if you ask me. I have a feeling that inside this model there’s a dual core CPU or maybe even single core, if they want to keep the price low. It would be cool to have the Snapdragon S4 on board.

LG Nitro HD Android 4.0 Update Coming Next Week

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 01:48 AM PDT

LG Nitro HD was one of LG’s latest interesting smartphones and also sadly one of the good phones out there that didn’t get Ice Cream Sandwich in time. Now it turns out that the handset will receive the Android 4.0 ICS update on July 31st.

AT&T revealed that the Nitro HD update will be available to the owners of the device in merely days, on July 31st. It appears that the update will be rolling out via the LG website and not over the air as one may expect. Android 4.0 ICS will bring quite a bunch of new features to the LG Nitro HD, including stuff like Face Unlock, a new user interface, new actions on the lockscreen and improved multitasking with swipe to close apps.

An extra will be the Optimus UI 3.0, that will be available with the new software. The Android 4.0 ICS update will bring a bunch of other enhancements and bug fixes that may have troubled Nitro HD owners. There’s no changelog just yet and if you want some background info, know that LG Nitro HD has been on Gingerbread since December 2011 so the update was incoming. AT&T promised to offer a further batch of updates in the near future, so expect more goodies soon.

AT&T HTC One X Now Priced at $99.99; Appealing Price!

Posted: 28 Jul 2012 01:07 AM PDT

AT&T gives you hot offers these days and not only you can get the Nokia Lumia 900 for $49.99, but also the HTC one X is now priced at $99.99. Right now the AT&T customers are apparently opting more for the Samsung Galaxy S III versus the One X, but thanks to the new price that could change.

The info about the price reduction comes from AT&T sales reps and an image from an internal AT&T email. The new offer reduces the price of the One X by $100 on July 29th. The $99.99 price point makes the hot HTC handset a direct rival to the Motorola Atrix HD, Sony Xperia Ion, Samsung Galaxy S II and the iPhone 4.
There’s no info why the price of the One X was but in half just months after the retail debut, but it may be caused by the already huge success of the Galaxy S III and HTC’s pressure on that account. Now sources are saying that the $99.99 price tag applies right NOW, a day earlier than estimated, so go ahead and get one. For me, the One X is superior to the Galaxy S III in design at least.
