Nokia Lumia 920 Exclusive on AT&T for 6 Months, Gets Custom Training Vids (Video)

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 05:24 AM PDT

AT&T just published a series of training videos specifically created for the Nokia Lumia 920, that will be available exclusively on this carrier for 6 months. AT&T is expected to announce the pricing and availability of the product this weekend and I expect something like $199 with a 2 year contract for it.

These demos here include the wireless charging accessories and JBL wireless speakers, that are also able to charge the handset at the same time. The Lumia 920 is the first 4G LTE Windows Phone 8 device to arrive on the carrier’s offer and it comes with the City Lens augmented reality app, that’s also demoed in these videos for a bit. NFC pairing with a JBL speaker is also detailed and since Nokia Lumia 920 is exclusive to AT&T, Verizon still has a shot at the latest Lumias by selling the Lumia 820, that was recently leaked in a VZW version, said to be called Lumia 822.

Back to the Lumia 920, this big and thick smartphone was announced last month and it comes with an 8.7 megapixel camera With Pureview technology, a 4.5 inch display and a Snapdragon S4 dual core processor. It promises 9 hours of talk time and the screen stands out through vivid colours, brightness and great viewing angles, all thanks to the PureMotion HD+ technology. The device measures 10.7 mm in thickness and weighs 185 grams.

HTC Nexus 5 Rumors Rear Their Heads, Coming Together With LG Nexus?

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 03:43 AM PDT

We’ve already seen too much of the LG Nexus 4 and now we’re apparently preparing for a whole wave of Nexus Phones from Google and its hardware partners. Said wave may also include a HTC model, like the freshly rumored HTC Nexus 5. We’ve previously spotted a presumed Sony Xperia Nexus and some photos taken with a supposed Samsung Galaxy Nexus II.

And then there’s the theory that Motorola will also make a Nexus Phone… What’s certain is that the one year anniversary of the Galaxy Nexus is approaching and we’re due a new smartphone with Google Nexus branding. While the LG Nexus 4 is 99% sure to be one of them, we may also see one or two more models, as rumored a while back. There’s a Google Android event taking place on October 29th, that may be used to unveil Android 4.2, the new handsets and maybe some new Nexus tablet.

There’s also something fishy about this leak happening a day after the HTC J Butterfly was announced in Japan. That 5 inch 1080p screen phone with quad core CPU may be rebranded into the HTC Nexus 5, just like the LG Optimus G was tweaked and turned into LG Nexus 4. This means that the new HTC Google Phone would bring a 5 inch 1920 x 1080p screen, Android 4.1 or 4.2 as the OS, a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, as well as an 8 MP camera.

Which of the Nexus devices do you think is more likely?

Google Preparing Android Event for October 29th: New Nexus Android 4.2 Phones Coming?

Posted: 18 Oct 2012 03:32 AM PDT

Google has just started sending out invitations to an event taking place on October 29th in New York City. The event will be focused on Android, probably with new hardware involved, maybe some new Nexus phones. We expect that Android 4.2 will debut, together with the LG Nexus 4 and maybe even a new Samsung and HTC phone also branded Nexus.

Notice that tagline on the invitation “The playground is open”, that’s the same motto with the one of the Nexus 7, if I’m not mistaking. This could mean we may end up seeing that rumored $99 Nexus tablet or maybe the 10 inch Nexus tablet. Speculations are many, but the truth is only known by Eric Schmidt, Andy Rubin and co. I’m particularly interested in seeing new Google phones here, since there have been some interesting launches lately, like the new Nokia Lumias and iPhone 5, while the world of Android didn’t get a flagship in stores this fall.

There’s the LG Optimus G coming and HTC’s new J Butterfly, but they still have a long way to go till they reach USA and Europe. What will Google surprise us with this time? It would be cool if they launched both new Nexus phones and a fresh tablet…
