Rovio, the company behind the always popular Angry Birds franchise, have issued a blog post earlier in the week, announcing they are releasing Angry Birds Star Wars. It will be released on November 8, which is after the expected date (approx Nov 4) of the first WP8 devices to be released. Take a look at the trailer below. I’m excited!

NEW YORK – (October 8, 2012) –Rovio Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. announced today a new blockbuster entertainment franchise collaboration; Angry Birds Star Wars. Launching worldwide on November 8, the unique partnership will combine all the fun of the classic Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space with the characters, stories and settings of the epic space fantasy, Star Wars.

From the deserts of Tatooine to the depths of the Death Star – the game and merchandise will feature the Angry Birds characters starring as the iconic heroes of the beloved Saga.

"This is the best Angry Birds game we've ever done. It's the best parts of Angry Birds with all new cutting-edge gameplay set in a galaxy far, far away," said Peter Vesterbacka, the Mighty Eagle  and CMO of Rovio. "As a big Star Wars fan myself, I'm really excited about this new universe. The Force is definitely strong with this one."

In addition to the game, this fall will also see the unveiling of a massive retail launch for Angry Birds Star Wars. Merchandise ranging from Halloween costumes and apparel to action figures and collectible plush toys will be available at select retailers, starting October 28.

"Both Star Wars and Angry Birds share the instant and irresistible appeal of hands-on fun," said Colum Slevin, Vice President, Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm Ltd. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination."

In the coming weeks, fans can expect additional new videos, characters, and much more exciting content to be revealed.

The game will be available on iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8.

Rumour: Nokia Win8 RT Tablet coming 2013; Looks like “Senna”

Posted: 13 Oct 2012 07:44 PM PDT

Also in last night’s email, I was tipped that we may be seeing a Nokia Tablet, coming early 2013, running Windows 8 RT. It is supposedly using the design of the “Senna” tablet, that was initially designed to run MeeGo-Harmattan.

Spec wise, all I was told was it will have an 8MP rear camera, and be available in a range of colours. It should presumably look like the Nokia Lumia “Coffee” Tablet we have seen in our MDN posts.

My assumption is, if this rumour is true, we may see this unveiled at CES  or MWC 2013.

This is still definitely a rumour, so I wouldn’t bet on it.

Update: Seems @NokiaPureView thinks the same

@NokiaPureView

Hmmm nokia tablets announced at ces 2012???? Yes please

Rumour: Verizon Lumia 9xx; 2MP FFC, higher MP 920 camera module, $149 on contract

Posted: 13 Oct 2012 07:33 PM PDT

I got an email overnight about the Lumia 9xx launching on Verizon. We have already seen a super blurry photo of what is apparently the camera module, with some speculating it is a 41MP Lumia. The email I got said that the Lumia 9xx will have the same module as the Lumia 920, but with a higher MP count. This can be used to back up the 41MP rumours, however, I doubt Nokia would shoot themselves in the foot, seeing as the AT&T exclusive Lumia 920 would barely sell if this were true. I am leaning towards possibly a 12MP, as we have heard that figure a few times, mentioned in relation to a Lumia 9xx series device.

Next, we have the front camera, which is supposedly going to be bumped up to 2MP. This could be Nokia’s way of trying to beat the HTC 8X’s FFC, or simply giving Verizon something over AT&T. Finally, I was told it is to be priced at $149 with a Verizon contract.

I can’t verify the credibility of this source yet, so attack this with a 10ft pole. (I think that’s the expression anyway :p )

Have you guys heard anything? Let me know in the comments section.

Lumia 800 on “Cuckoo” (BBC) and “Hawaii Five-0″

Posted: 13 Oct 2012 04:55 AM PDT

Just been watching some TV and it looking like BBC have decided to feature the Cyan Lumia 800 on the new show “Cuckoo” (featuring Hollywood stalwart Andy Samberg and British comedy giant Greg Davies).

On top of this, the new season of Hawaii Five-0 seems to have given some of the cast a Nokia Lumia 800, and the others a Nokia Lumia 900 and so far they have been featured in all 3 episodes so far of season 3:

Not sure why, but for some reason they have stuck a case on it which hides the Nokia logo etc…why have they done this???

and here are some more on Hawaii Five-0…

Humm, below, she seems to be still in the menu rather then actually on a call!

not sure why again, but looks like they photoshopped the image onto the screen (the image on the Lumia 900 below is bigger then the screen is!!!)

Looks like the Lumia 900 went for a swim :( …..don’t worry though, seems like they have loads of them!!!

So have you spotted the Lumia’s or other Nokia’s anywhere else? post below…

Xbox Live Update coming soon – Smartglass for Nokia Lumia imminent?

Posted: 13 Oct 2012 02:34 AM PDT

Just got the routine email from Xbox Live that their autumn update is coming soon. There’s updates on search, in particular voice search for TV shows, music and games when using kinect as well as ‘Pinning’. The main cool thing coming is support for Xbox SmartGlass – the enhanced XboxLive companion App for your Nokia Lumia (and other smartphones) and tablets. Think Wii U perhaps but without the need for an extra controller, just existing phones/tablets.

Dear JayMontanoZ,

An Xbox LIVE service update is coming soon. The system update will include several new features to enhance your search experience, making it easier to find the content you're looking for on Xbox LIVE.

Search refinements – The update will allow you to search for content by category or genre, and then filter your results into a number of subcategories.

Recommendations and Pinning – Find new favourites with personalised recommendations on games and videos in Dash.

Voice Search* – Use your voice to easily search for movies, TV shows, music and games with your Kinect for Xbox 360.

Also coming soon:

Internet Explorer** – Extend your Xbox experience and surf the web safely and securely with Internet Explorer.

Xbox SmartGlass† – Control entertainment on your console with the new Xbox SmartGlass app. Once downloaded, you will be able to use your smartphone or tablet as a companion device for an enhanced game and entertainment experience.

Look out for these updates coming soon to your console.
