Sony Xperia Sola Gets Priced at $390, Available in Hong Kong Apparently (Video) Posted: 01 May 2012 08:03 AM PDT Unveiled in March and supposed to reach North America and Europe before the end of June, Sony Xperia Sola has just received a price. I’m talking about $390, a price that’s listed for the Hong Kong market, meaning that the handset could already be available over there. A similar pricing (converted to 290 euros) could be applied in Europe. Sony Xperia Sola has the advantage of being the first device to feature “floating touch navigation”, that allows users to browse the web by hovering the finger above the 3.7 inch FWVGA display. This model runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will support to upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS soon enough. Other features include NFC, HSPA, WiFi, a 5MP camera with 720p capture and 512MB of RAM. The CPU inside is a dual core 1GHz unit and you also get 8GB of storage and a microSD card slot. The idea of the Floating Touch is explained in the video below, coming straight from Hong Kong. Considering the price and specs of this model, I tend to see it as a replacement for the Xperia Ray, that last year was priced similarly and had reasonable specs at the time. No related posts. |
iPhone 5 Self Destruct Feature is Funny, Handset Isn’t that Bad! (Video) Posted: 01 May 2012 04:07 AM PDT In what looks like a video of a concept iPhone 5 we discovered a funny little feature, that mocks up the security measures usually provided with handsets. There’s a self destruct feature here for this edge to edge screen iPhone, that once it detects you entered the password wrong too many times, it cracks up the screen. The folks of AatmaStudio put this together and they’ve done similar cool tricks before, creating all sorts of original concepts, like the iPad 3 that sticks to other iPads with magnets of the iPhone 5 concept with projector keyboard. I wonder what they’ll come up with next and I’d certainly like to see Apple going to them for making quirky commercials, not merely doing those family-oriented ads with indie music. I know that Apple would never kill your handset once it got stolen, but at least they could activate that feature that takes a picture of the person who stole the phone without them knowing it. Anyway, the iPhone 5 is rumored to be announced this fall, unless it’s shown at WWDC 2012 in June. Till then you can have wet dreams about edge to edge Retina Displays with 4 inch diagonals and maybe a quad core CPU inside… Related posts: |
This is What the Next Google Phone May Look Like – Galaxy Nexus Black S Concept Posted: 01 May 2012 01:46 AM PDT We all know the Nexus One, Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, but can you imagine what the next Google Phone will look like? Well, Antoine Brieux had an idea about it, so he created a concept phone called the Galaxy Nexus Black S. This next Google Phone is beautifully rendered in the images below, that take cues from their predecessors. This is a 4.9 inch handset with a Super AMOLED+ display, metallic case and 720p resolution. Android 4.0 ICS is on board here and I’m sure the device is compatible with Android 5.0 Jellybean, whenever that comes. The phone weighs 153 grams, so it’s pretty heavy, but also pretty slim, at 8.43mm in thickness. Other features include HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth, 32 or 64 GB of storage and 1.5GB of RAM. I’m pretty surprised there’s no LTE here, but it may be lacking in order to get more battery life from the 2050 mAh power source. Inside the Galaxy Nexus Black S we find a 1.4 GHz quad core processor, most likely an Exynos one, unless there’s the Snapdragon S5 in there. As you can see, the case doesn’t involve any buttons and we an aluminium unibody design here, plus a pretty unique technology involving a virtual SIM, something that Apple is supposed to be working on. At the back there’s a 12 megapixel camera with continuous autofocus and at the front there’s a 3.2 megapixel camera for videocalls. Would you buy this new Nexus? Related posts: |
