Crash Course Ice 3D Review – Fun and Fast Paced 3D Game (Video) Posted: 21 May 2012 03:06 PM PDT If you’re looking for a 3D game to have fun with on Android and have a pair of anaglyphic glasses laying around, then I recommend you play Crash Course Ice. This title has you controlling a ship that shoots its way across a blue planet, with beautiful light effects and fast paced music. You get a bunch of weapons to shoot with, stuff like a minigun, plasma a multidirectional gun and more, plus the option to blow everything up on the screen with a nuke. You’ll race around a planet in 3D and spin around it as crystals and alien ships attack you. If you’re in a pickle and you’re surrounded you can bolt out of danger by pressing a special button on the right side of the screen, that will make you rush out of peril and destroy enemies in your path. Also, once you die, the enemies nearby will die as well. There’s a casual mode to play in, an arcade mode and survival mode. You can choose between 2D/3D graphics, increase the quality of graphics and switch the camera distance. There’s an on screen virtual analogic stick on the left, used to control your direction and a stick on the right to control the direction you shoot in. Beautiful game and highly addictive! HTC’s Phones Actually Made it Through US Customs Posted: 21 May 2012 01:56 PM PDT If you remember, ITC ordered a blockade of HTC handsets, apparently at Apple’s request. The reason was that HTC was infringing some patents, the usual problem over the past years. Now the Taiwanese smartphone maker said that some of its models made it through US customs, so clients can rest easy. After passing the customs, the International Trade Commission is checking them for patent ruling compliance. Sadly, we have no idea which models got through and which didn’t. AT&T’s One X version and the HTC EVO 4G LTE have been the models most affected by Apple’s patent duel. The One X failed to reach in AT&T’s stock, while the EVO 4G LTE didn’t reach the announced launch date, so HTC’s image will be affected. HTC’s Amaze 4G model is also being affected by customs problems. There are some software changes to be done in order to comply with ITC’s decision, but till that gets worked out, some of the best HTC handsets on the market will be missing from the stores. This is so unfair… just when HTC was getting some momentum back after a poor quarter or two, here comes Apple delivering a deadly blow. Expect the Galaxy S III to also be sabotaged by Apple when the sales peak. Related posts: |
HTC Amaze 4G Updated to Android 4.0 ICS Posted: 21 May 2012 11:37 AM PDT HTC Amaze 4G and HTC Sensation 4G were on the “coming soon” list as far as ICS updates go, but now it seems that at least for the former model, the update is here. Previously it was rumored that June is the time frame when the handsets will get the latest Android, but it’s here early. Amaze owners or at least part of them are confirming the availability of the system software 2.14.531.3701RD on the device, with Android 4.0.3. The release also includes HTC Sense 3.6 and the usual goodness of multitasking with swipe to close apps down, new icons, new widgets and new fonts. Installation is described as smooth, without bugs and problems. For those of you who don’t know exactly what this model is, know that it was launched last fall, it measures 11.8 mm in thickness and it weighs a huge 172.9 grams. It’s got a 4.3 inch qHD display with S-LCD technology, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, HSDPA (42 Mbps), an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p capture and a dual core 1.5 GHz Scorpion CPU. One reason for the bulky allure could be the 1730 mAh battery, but that’s not such a high capacity for the bulk… Related posts: |
Samsung and HTC Preparing Tizen-Based Devices for H2 2012 Posted: 21 May 2012 09:35 AM PDT About two weeks ago a prototype Samsung phone running Tizen was demoed and things started to look very nice for the platform that’s being developed with the cooperation of many big companies. The likes of Vodafone, Orange and Sprint are part of the project, that actually started with Samsung and Intel combining their forces. They merged their Meeo and LiMo divisions and started work on this new OS, that might actually replace Bada OS, as Samsung’s favourite software project. Considering expectations, the number of partners and compatible hardware, this OS might even become the big third platform in the mobile world, after iOS and Android. It may replace Windows Phone if it gets enough traction. Samsung did a fine job with Bada OS, selling millions of units and they can use that expertise to kill Windows Phone’s market share. Anyway, know that other new players have joined Tizen, companies such as Panasonic and NEC, while Acer and ASUS are said to be working on notebooks with this OS on board. The notebooks are meant for emerging markets, so they will have killer prices. Recently Tizen was spotted running Android apps, so that opens up even more possibilities. What do you think, will Tizen manage to dig Windows Phone’s grave once and for all? Related posts: |
Double Sided Transparent Touchscreen Phone Demoed in Japan Posted: 21 May 2012 05:30 AM PDT We’ve seen transparent or partly transparent handsets before, but never one with a transparent color touchscreen, like the model shown below and demoed by NTT DoCoMo in Japan. A couple of years ago LG launched a transparent keyboard phone, then we had the Xperia Pureness and its transparent monochrome screen and recently the Xperia S with that transparent bar at the bottom. However, this device is an entirely different thing, albeit it’s in prototype phase. Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo demoed it and showed that you can use both sides of the touchscreen to operate the handset. Another interesting feature is the ability to change screen taps so they’ll work much like the Shift key on traditional keyboards. A demo of a Rubik’s cube being solved with taps on both sides of the screen was shown, to emphasize the use of the transparent dual screen. This reminds me of the PS Vita console, that uses a front touchscreen and back touchpad to solve similar puzzles in games. A DoCoMo representative also mentioned that viewing the screen in sunlight may pose some problems, but if you place a dark object behind the screen, visibility will be improved. I’m curios if we’ll ever see this product on the market and if so, who’s going to make it. My money’s on companies like Panasonic, Fujitsu or Sony. Related posts: |
Samsung Galaxy Note Olympic Edition Revealed, Pics Leaked on Twitter Posted: 21 May 2012 03:09 AM PDT This summer we’ll have two major sporting events in Europe, the EURO 2012 football cup and the Summer Olympics in London. The latter has Samsung as major sponsor and Galaxy S III as the official phone. Now it appears that the Galaxy Note will also be tied in with the event, as shown by the custom version for the Olympics pictured below. A Twitter user posted this pic of the unique device, with the Union Jack back cover and also a packaging that brings you some British symbols. I wonder if there’s some Olympics-related content installed on the device, but since the packaging says nothing about that, I doubt it. It appears that this model will be sold in the UK through O2 and Samsung will also launch a Galaxy Y Olympics version. The new back cover of this Galaxy Note isn’t the only thing special about it and it seems that with each purchase you will donate $1.55 to the Team GB athletes of the future. You also get a chance to win tickets to the Olympics by buying this 5.3 inch smartablet. I’m really curios to see how Samsung will continue to link their products to this sporting event and how Galaxy S III plays a major part in the tech area of the competition this summer.
