Nokia Lumia 900 Handles Sunlight Action Better Than iPhone 4, Galaxy S; Has Great Visibility! Posted: 09 May 2012 12:17 PM PDT There’s a test out there done by displaymate.com, that basically compares all types of displays from all famous mobile devices on the market and one surprise was the Nokia Lumia 900. It came out on top of many other models, as far as visibility and outdoor use is concerned. AMOLED displays are particularly known for their beautiful colours, but also the problems they have in bright sunlight. The first handsets to use AMOLED tech were not good at all outdoors, but the technology evolved and when Super AMOLED was introduced everything changed for the best. Right now AMOLED screens are outperforming the LCDs when it comes to visibility, that’s clear. Back to the Nokia Lumia 900, this one benefits not only from the AMOLED tech it has on board, but also the Nokia Clear Black Display tech, that seems to defeat the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S in a fair fight. The comparison done by displaymate.com is shown in the image above and it’s pretty clear that the Lumia 900 wins, with 90 points. The Super AMOLED on the Galaxy S scores 80 points and ranks second, while the LCD on the iPhone 4 is third with 77 points. Famous models that are a bit older, such as the Motorola Droid X and HTC Desire score much lower, barely reaching around 20 points, showing us how much AMOLED tech has evolved over the past 2 years. HTC Wildfire C Leaks In Two New Pictures Posted: 09 May 2012 09:32 AM PDT HTC Wildfire C is a name we’re heard before, as the official branding of the HTC Golf handset. The Golf has been in the news for a while now, but it has become clear what it’s all about: a low end smartphone with an affordable price tag and Android 4.0. HTC Wildfire C appears in two new pictures you can see in this article and sources say that it will have HTC Sense 4.0 UI, although I expected it to be somewhat customized to fit the smaller screen. Other specs will include a sub 1 GHz single core processor, a 3 megapixel camera and a 3.5 inch HVGA screen. The same source says that the product will actually end up being marketed as the HTC Desire C, but I can’t guarantee that’s real or that the specs mentioned before are. The camera seems a bit underpowered to be honest. The format of the device looks genuine and I expect here the experience of the HTC One series, but in smaller and cheaper package. Can you handle that? Will it become another “smartphone for the girls”, like previous Wildfire models? Related posts: |
Samsung Galaxy S III is the Official London Olympics 2012 Handset, Pushed by Visa Posted: 09 May 2012 03:58 AM PDT Visa and Samsung announced today that Samsung Galaxy S III is the official Olympic Games Phone for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. There will be a limited edition of the device handed out to athletes and contestants who are sponsored by Samsung and Visa. The handsets will be preloaded with Visa’s PayWare software and Visa and Samsung have already planned to showcase this technology at special booths during the Olympic Games. Also, you should know that 140,000 contactless terminals are available all over the UK for payments via NFC, like the ones Galaxy S III is capable of. I guess you can say that the Olympics will be one big trial run for this technology, that could take over the world in the future and replace wallets for good. The one fear here is that hackers find a way to tap into the system and get all the funds from the smartphones. With Android being seen as an unsafe platform, I guess that people will maybe think twice before paying large amounts of money via NFC. I mean, getting a hotdog is OK, but you wouldn’t buy a car via NFC contactless payment, would you? Related posts: |
Sony Xperia GX and SX are Two new Android 4.0 Phones With LTE, Great Designs Posted: 09 May 2012 02:28 AM PDT Sony has two fresh Xperia models to unveil today, that bring forth Android 4.0, LTE and 13 megapixel cameras (one of them). Those cool sounding models are only Japan material right now and they’re called the Xperia GX and Xperia SX. You can check them out below, with the first being the GX model: Sony Xperia GX features a 4.6 inch Mobile BRAVIA display and it’s pretty much the flagship unit of the two. Inside it has a dual core 1.5 GHz processor and at the back we find a 13 megapixel camera with HD capture and LED flash. The same device comes with 16GB of storage, a slick curved casing that reminds me of the Xperia Arc and white/black colour versions. The handset also gets the famous custom UI that’s present on Sony phones with Android. There’s also something new: a super speed Album app, for faster photo access and handling high resolution pictures Moving on to the Xperia SX, this is the world’s lightest LTE phone at a mere 95 grams. It features a 3.7 inch Mobile Bravia Display, a dual core 1.5 GHz processor and 8GB of storage. There’s an 8 megapixel camera at the back and other Japanese features, such as infrared connectivity and mobile TV. This phone is also available in black and white and some features that both models have in common are HDMI ports, DLNA, and LTE with download speed of up to 75 Mbps. The new products will be launched in Japan this summer for a yet unknown price. Related posts: |
ZTE Nova 4.0 V8000 Hands on Experience Reveals Plasticky Body, Soft Touch Back (Video) Posted: 09 May 2012 01:30 AM PDT The folks of Phone Arena have managed to score a ZTE Nova 4.0 V8000 handset for a brief hands on at CTIA 2012. We’re dealing here with a model that might arrive to Cricket’s lineup pretty soon. Its specs are pretty appealing and this is a worthy rival for the Huawei Mercury, also available on Cricket. ZTE Nova 4.0 V8000 offers an all plastic body, a glossy trim bezel and soft touch back cover. It’s a very solid device and it’s also light, thanks to the materials it has on board. It’s got a 4 inch WVGA LCD display, a single core 1.4 GHz processor (Qualcomm MSM8655) and Android 4.0 ICS stock as the OS of choice. There’s an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus at the back with LED flash and an 1,900 mAh battery under the hood. Bluetooth, 1GB of RAM, 4GB ROM and WiFi complete the specifications. We have no pricing for this model, but if it’s truly a Huawei Mercury rival, it should be priced around $300 without contract. Cricket Wireless has to confirm the launch date and price for this model, so keep an eye on them. As a last thing to mention, it’s strange to see all 4 capacitive buttons here below the display, instead of the 3 that Android 4.0 involves… Related posts: |
