Huawei Ascend Y200 is yet another entry level phone from the Chinese company, but this time one that aims at conquering the US market. Luckily, the folks of CNET got some hands on quality time with the phone at CTIA 2012, so you know what you’re getting into before making the purchase. The Ascend Y200 gets its “Y” name particle from “youth”, so the handset is for the mass market and particularly youngsters. Thus, it’s an entry level device with a smaller screen, slower CPU and lesser camera performance. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, packs a 3.5 inch touchscreen and uses a 1 GHz processor. It doesn’t sound that bad, does it? Anyway, this model also comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with no flash. Its design is pretty appealing with a rounded shape and smooth lines. No carrier or pricing information has been disclosed yet, but what we do know is that the Ascend Y200 will be released in the US later this year, according to Huawei’s executive product VP James Jiang. The folks of TMZ caught Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher wearing the trademark Steve Jobs outfit, as he prepares for his role in the upcoming Jobs biopic. The pictures you see here were taken in Los Angeles and Kutcher is seen dressed in the famous black turtleneck and blue jeans combo. Kutcher was heading to the set of the Steve Jobs movie he’s part of, so that’s why he was so strongly in character. The picture is called (tentatively) Jobs: Get Inspired. Right now there are two motion pictures in the works, both regarding the life of the famous Apple guru, who passed away last fall. The other project that doesn’t involve Kutcher is a Sony production based on the Walter Isaacson official biography of Steve Jobs. Just so you know, the Ashton movie will depict the early years of the Apple CEO. Hopefully, the Hollywood bigshot will manage to capture the spirit of Jobs and he’ll get rid of those plastic cups with sugar-filled drinks he always carries around in Two and a Half Men. Straight from China comes the leak of the day, showing us some new Nokia S40 full touch handsets. These are the Nokia 305, 306 and 311, pictured below. The pics seem to come from Baidu, a Chinese search engine that also provides some other Internet services. We’re dealing here with a bunch of plasticky phones with a metal band at the bottom and a price that’s probably below 100 euros. The specs mentioned by the source of the leak, Aikon171 include dual SIM abilities for these models. Nokia 305 is a dual SIM handset with a 2 megapixel camera, while the Nokia 306 is a single SIM phone with a 2 MP cam. Finally, the 311 model is a WCDMA/WiFi unit with a 3.2MP shooter. I have no idea if these models are part of the Asha series, but they could fit right in. As usual, I expect that data compressing browser to be on board and considering the speculated price tags I expect such models in India, Mexico and other emerging markets. It would be cool to see Angry Birds bundled on these devices, but that’s unlikely. Related posts:
